Farrakhan: ‘Mischief making’ should not dampen support for Obama By FinalCall.com

(FinalCall.com) - In response to outrage expressed by many, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan issued the following statement regarding remarks made by Sen. Barack Obama during Tuesday's presidential debate. Mr. Tim Russert questioned Sen. Obama regarding Min. Farrakhan's Saviours' Day address and his complimentary remarks concerning the Obama campaign. "Those who have been supporting Sen. Barack Obama should not allow what was said during the Feb. 26 presidential debate to lessen their support for his campaign. This is simply mischief making intended to hurt Mr. Obama politically."

The Movement for Reparations

The Movement for Reparations
By the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan
The Need for Unity and Healing in Black America

[Editor’s note: The following is an excerpt of a message delivered by Minister Farrakhan at Plymouth United Christian Congregational Church in Washington, D.C., on August 16, 2002, the eve of the Millions for Reparations March. Click here to order CD/DVD/]

In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

The Cause for which we are gathered is bigger than all of us who are gathered and, therefore, it is incumbent upon us to submerge our personalities, even our differing methodologies, religious persuasions or the lack thereof, for the Cause that is bigger than us all.

We are not here tonight because of ourselves; we are here because of those who went before us to pave the way for us. We must not be untrue to them and to those who struggled to make life what it is for us—nor should we relegate what we can do today to our children to do tomorrow.

We should complete our assignment today, so that our children may work on the next phase of that assignment.

I heard Dr. Ron Daniels say, if there ever were a time that we needed unity as a people, that time is now. We are under assault from every quarter and the only way we can survive is that it must be “we” and not “I.”

We will survive if we recognize our need for one another.

The brilliance sitting here and sitting out there is needed. There is not one of us who does not bring something of value to the struggle. We may not all struggle in the same way, we may not have the same length or breadth in terms of impact, but, each one of us is important to bring about a successful outcome for what we desire.

We, who are in the movement for reparations, and I’m very glad to say “we,” because I definitely know that the Nation of Islam is a part of that movement for reparations. We must not betray our ancestors in the negotiation for what we feel is just and justly due to the children of the slaves.

It’s not about money. It’s about what is requisite to repair the damage. I see the Honorable Marcus Garvey as my grandfather and the Honorable Elijah Muhammad as my father. Both men have impacted on my life and I think that the founders of the Millions for Reparations rally, who met in Durban, South Africa, were not just talking, but there was a spirit moving them. The spirit of those who have gone on, who are not able to be here tonight, but who produced us that we might make an accounting of ourselves in our time period.
***
Liberation is not a one-day journey. Neither is reparation, for reparation and liberation really are synonymous. You won’t be free without the damage being repaired. In order to repair the damage, you must make a proper assessment of the damage.

Whenever you are in an accident, and most of us have been in some kind of accident, your car gets hit. There is a carmaker who knows all the parts that he put in it and how they should function, so that when you turn the key, you get a proper reaction.

But when you’ve been in an accident, you have to stop and an assessor comes out and looks at your car, assesses the damage and tells you what is needed to repair it and make it whole.

There is no question that we’ve been damaged and there’s no question that the damage has been so severe that some have said it’s totaled: “We don’t need to repair this, we need a new thing.” But the scripture says, “Behold I make all things new.” Sometimes you can take a thing that has been damaged to prove the power of your ability. When somebody says “Total it,” you say “No, I can bring it back”—that separates the real mechanic from the student.

In the 8th verse of the 16th chapter of Ezekiel,—he’s an old prophet, but he could see—he talks about some “damage.” He said: “Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I swear unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.” This is talking about something that was naked that needed covering; something that was unclean that needed washing.

In verses 4-6, he says: “And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all. None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born. And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live.”

That doesn’t make too much sense right now, but let’s look at it a little deeper: The only reason we are here for reparations is that nothing was done to repair the damage that 400 years of slavery and injustice had done to us.

“In the day that you were born” means that you have come forth out of the womb of confinement and gestation. But the day you were born, there was nobody to serve you; to cut the umbilical cord, to wash you, to swaddle you. You were polluted in your own blood. As you are developing in the womb, the placenta is a purification agency that allows good to come into the new life being formed. You are developing lungs to breathe on your own, eyes to see, ears to hear, brains to think, hands to work, feet to walk. But when you come forth, there is some attention that you need.

First of all, the umbilical cord has to be cut to separate you from that out of which you were born.

For 300 years we were confined in what was called chattel slavery. It was a period of gestation in the womb. America couldn’t go on. Like any mother, when it’s time, you’ve got to lay down and give birth to the child, or you die, or the baby dies—or both die.

In 1865, they said “you are free.” They couldn’t hold us in slavery, that narrow place of confinement. We had outgrown it. So the baby comes to birth, but the cord still is not cut. You have the ability to breathe on your own, to see, to think, but you are still tied to your slave master and his children, not in a proper, but in a very improper way. With nobody to serve your needs, your rights, your interests, you are laying in an open field now. Nobody to wash you with water and you are polluted in the blood of the womb.

What is the blood of the womb? It’s the life of slavery that gave you a slave mentality, this terrible feeling of inferiority. There is some damage that has been done. The baby is born, but it’s born damaged. It doesn’t know where it belongs. And if it knows where it belongs, it can’t go
there because the cord that’s tying it has not been cut.

In the year 2002, we are polluted by the life of slavery.

Somebody walked by and said, “in a day of love, Live.” He didn’t just say it; he knew what to do to make it a reality. This wasn’t just a “jive mechanic.” This was somebody who knew that it could have been totaled, but he knew how to bring it back. He said, “Live.” You wouldn’t say “live” if it were alive.

It was in a state of death and only a Power bigger than the power of man could come and bring it back to life. He said, “When I walked by.” Who is this “I” talking? It must be that “I,” Who said, “Behold, I make all things new.” This is a terrible condition, something polluted in its own blood. It’s been lying there for 100 and some-odd years, polluted in the life of the slave. You’ve been to college, but you’re polluted. No matter how many doctorate degrees you have, they have not washed you.

I want you to hear me as your Brother. Don’t get arrogant over what the White man gave us because he never gave us enough to wash ourselves, otherwise the job would have been done. The repair work would have been done. Church couldn’t repair you because you’re a n----r in the church. I’m not being disrespectful, but church, now, is an emotional experience, not a transforming experience. Neither is the mosque, nor the synagogue. Our organizations die from within as well as from without, because there is something sick within that needs to be healed.

All of our degrees are useful, but they are more useful after we have been washed. They are more useful after the umbilical cord is cut, because to cut the umbilical cord allows you to grow into yourself. It’s self-determination, not living under the shadow, nor in the shadow, of America. But living free to be what you are and who God created you to be.

Now in assessing the damage, you have to look at what happened to us spiritually, because there is a spiritual disconnect from The Reality of God. You know God and you love God, but the reality of how God works, you’re disconnected from that, because you are disconnected from The Law of Cause and Effect. You think things just happen. You don’t realize that God gives you wisdom to organize and make things happen. You are sitting around waiting for a Mystery God to give you what you are quite capable, if united, of giving yourself.

You have been stripped of an understanding of The Law of Cause and Effect, so you believe in a Mystery God. Some fellow floating around in the sky and you are floating around on earth, not grounded, not knowing the value of what’s under your foot, and willing to give it up to somebody else that they can use you to build a heaven for themselves on the earth. You’re waiting to die and go someplace to get what you can get on the earth.

That’s a spiritual disconnect from reality.

The Holy Qur’an teaches us that Allah (God) will never change the condition of a people until they change themselves.

How are we going to change? We don’t know how. Somebody has to walk by and say, “Live.” Not only say it, but produce life, spiritually. Not only are we messed up spiritually, but the life that we lived in slavery was immoral. The enemy never wanted marriage as an institution. “Make babies and let the slave master take care of them.” Is that still going on? Somebody needs a washing, don’t you think? The slave master went into our women and produced all these different shades and colors and textures of hair and shapes of noses and lips. He made those badges of honor and dishonor depending upon how light you were, how straight your hair was, how close you were to the “image of perfection,” which was White supremacy. That had a terrible effect on us mentally that needs repair to this day.

Why do our organizations die from within? Because the enemy can easily pit one of us against the other, because we’re so filled with jealousy and envy. When somebody appears to be more talented, we feel we must fight with him or her, rather than join him or her and help him or her.

Then, there are those of us who have been educated on the principle that the more you know, the more money you can get for what you know, so knowledge is not for cultivation. Knowledge is for you to gain the creature comforts of life, oftimes at the expense of others. Somebody needs a washing here.

We’ve been here since before the Mayflower. Here are people that came after the Mayflower, on the Mayflower, and take advantage of what America has to offer.

We’ve been here longer than anybody else, except the Native Americans and those who brought our fathers here in the beginning, and what do we have to show economically for the knowledge that we possess and the money that flows through our hands on a yearly basis? That’s why a monetary solution alone will not work. The mentality of the slave is such, that if you gave him money, within a month it would be right back in the hands of the former slave masters and their children.

You have spiritual damage, mental damage, emotional damage, psychological damage, political damage. Did I say social damage? Did I say scientific damage? We’ve been so damaged that the prophets referred to us as dead. Ezekiel offers a picture of us as dried bones in a valley. The bones could hear great teachers, and they would shake and they would rattle, but they wouldn’t do anything. You have had some of the greatest teachers that ever walked the earth.
***
It was reported in one newspaper that some of the families of victims of the horror of 9/11 were suing the governments of Saudi Arabia, the Sudan and some royal family members for several trillion dollars. They sued because of 3,000 deaths and buildings coming down. Thank you very much; you are making our case for us, because, if 3,000 people White, Black, Brown, Red and Yellow, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus and Buddhists, who died in buildings, on airplanes and at the Pentagon deserve trillions of dollars, then put that on the scale of what some scholars say we lost in the Middle Passage coming into slavery. The money figure is staggering to fix this car.

That’s why nobody wants to talk about the level of reparations. They’ll talk about raising a monument, or, “Let’s have a museum for Black people.” Don’t you settle for that!

Elijah Muhammad, whether you agreed or disagreed with him, said to me one day that he wanted us to have eight or 10 states. Let them move out and leave everything. Don’t tear anything down. Leave the institutions, leave everything there and we will move in. And then we want you to take care of us for the next 20-25 years, until we are able to go for ourselves. Now don’t say you (Whites) can’t do it, because you’ve been taking care of Israel for 54 years. And Israel has not contributed to this nation like we have.

Now don’t go off half cocked, “That Farrakhan is at it again.” The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said, “Perhaps I know that they won’t give us one state, not even as small as Rhode Island, but that doesn’t stop me from asking.” He said, “I want my people to know what justice looks like.”

Justice is not a White woman. I’m not saying that you can’t fall in love, but what I am saying is we cannot accept their daughter as payment. We cannot accept their son as payment. We cannot accept White people’s weak attempt at affirmative action as payment. We cannot accept welfare as payment. Brothers and Sisters, when you add up what we have suffered and what we have contributed to a country, that to this day denies us the principle of justice, such measures are insufficient.

Whites may say, “well, ya’ll ain’t never going to get nothing from us.” I wouldn’t be so quick to say that. I saw what you did to O. J. Simpson. He got through the court all right. He was pronounced “not guilty,” but you couldn’t be satisfied with that. You brought him back to court and found him “responsible.” You started stripping him of whatever money he had that he didn’t hide because you said, “No. He’s not guilty, but he is responsible.”

The present generation of Whites is not guilty, but we have to ask, “Are you willing to accept responsibility?” They say, “Well, I didn’t do anything to those people.” No, but you now live a privileged life because of something that happened to us.

And to the Whites who would be heartened by these statements, I would love to dialogue with you. I want you to understand what responsibility is, because this is not going away.

Know Thyself

Know Thyself
By the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad

It is knowledge of self that the so-called Negroes lack, which keeps them from enjoying freedom, justice and equality. This belongs to them divinely as much as it does to other nations of the earth.

It is Allah’s (God’s) will and purpose that we shall know ourselves. Therefore, He came Himself to teach us the knowledge of self. Who is better knowing of who we are than God, Himself? He has declared that we are descendants of the Asian Black Nation and the tribe of Shabazz.

You might ask, who is this tribe of Shabazz? Originally, they were the tribe that came with the earth (or this part) 66 trillion years ago when a great explosion on our planet divided it into two parts. One we call earth and the other moon.

We are the mighty, the wise, the best, but do not know it. Being without the knowledge, we disgrace ourselves, subjecting ourselves to suffering and shame. We could not get the knowledge of self until the coming of Allah. To know thyself is to know all men, as from us came all and to us all will return.

This was done by one of our scientists, God, who wanted the people to speak one language, one dialect for all, but was unable to bring this about. He decided to kill us by the destroying our planet, but still He failed. We were lucky to be on this part, earth, which did not lose its water in the mighty blasting away of the part called moon.

We, the tribe of Shabazz, says Allah (God), were the first to discover the best part of our planet to live on. The rich Nile Valley of Egypt and the present seat of the Holy City, Mecca, Arabia.

The origin of our kinky hair, says Allah, came from one of our dissatisfied scientists, 50,000 years ago, who wanted to make all of us tough and hard in order to endure the life of the jungles of East Asia (Africa) and to overcome the beasts there. But he failed to get the others to agree with him.

He took his family and moved into the jungle to prove to us that we could live there and conquer the wild beasts, and we have. So, being the first and the smartest scientist on the deportation of our moon and the one who suffered most of all, Allah (God) has decided to place us on the top with a thorough knowledge of self and his guidance.

We are the mighty, the wise, the best, but do not know it. Being without the knowledge, we disgrace ourselves, subjecting ourselves to suffering and shame. We could not get the knowledge of self until the coming of Allah. To know thyself is to know all men, as from us came all and to us all will return.

I must keep warning you that you should give up the White race’s names and religion in order to gain success. Their days of success are over. Their rule will last only as long as you remain asleep to the knowledge of self.

Awake and know that Allah has revealed the truth. Stop believing in something coming to you after you are physically dead. That is untrue, and no one can show any proof of such belief.

Again, know that Jesus was only a prophet and cannot hear you pray any more than Moses or any other dead prophet. Know too, that this White race was created to be the enemy of Black mankind for 6,000 years, which makes their number to be six. That is not your number or mine. We do not have a number, because we have no birth record. Do not let anyone fool you. This is the separation and the War of Armageddon.

The War: America Cannot Win the Victory

The War: America Cannot Win the Victory

By the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad

It is impossible for America to be the victor in this universal war because of divine intervention against her. Although she has enough deadly material manufactured to try to win, can she win against Allah (God)?

She boasts of her material and being able to destroy the people of earth thirty times. If she was left free to use her material maybe America could win, but the divine die was set against her long before she ever became America.

She can try and boast of her idea of mind to deceive her Black slaves, but she will deceive herself and them. America is made manifest, by Almighty God, in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom praises are due forever, that she is total and deadly enemy against her once slaves.

For many years, I have written that America’s greatest sin is her evil done to her Black slaves. Allah (God) intends to repay her for what she has done.

She deceives the Black slaves right at the point of total destruction. She tries to woo the so-called Negro with false and temporary promises by offering him high political jobs to keep him from turning his attention to self and kind. The Black politician could and should use his political knowledge to benefit self and kind.

White America isolates the Messenger of God from their minds with these false promises and makes them to hate the Messenger of God and to work against him although the Messenger of God is working for the interests of the Black slaves.

The eyes and ears of Allah (God) are open, looking and listening to their actions. It is not necessary for Allah (God) to use mechanical devices. Allah (God) is physically real and He has real physical eyes and ears. He is capable of seeing and hearing everything we do and say. He has power to defeat us in our plans which are against His plans.

The American slave-holders want to deceive the so-called Negro into believing that Allah (God) is not paying attention to them. The White man wants them to believe that he is the god that they should pay attention to.

I warn my people who believe in the idea that the White man is the god they should pay attention to. You will come up the loser.

Allah (God) is backing me up in the work He has given me to do. The work He has given me to do is for your own Black salvation. If you think that you have salvation with the White man, then go ahead with him. I am not here to force you against your own will, but I want you to know that if you are looking to White America for your salvation you are headed with them to your and their destruction.

There is no hope for America to win the war. There is no hope for the Black man in the future of America for America has no future for herself. She will not be able to win the war.

The scholars and the scientists know that America cannot win. It is not just I, alone, saying this.
Scholars and scientists will tell us America cannot win and we know by divine prophecy that America cannot win.

If it were just Russia, China, Viet Nam and Korea using their judgment of how best to destroy each other, maybe America could win; for she has as much as they have in war material and scientific preparation.

America is capable of going out of the atmosphere of the earth and to fight them from there, but she will not be able to go out of the atmosphere of the earth and destroy the Black Man of the Earth.

It is only a mistake that one should believe in America’s ability to build a way-station in the air or on the moon for she will not be able to use it against us, for the divine plan is set to destroy her.

We have many things out there in space that can be brought into action against America or any other nation today; for Allah is the Greatest.

President George Walker Bush: The Greatest Threat to World Peace

President George Walker Bush: The Greatest Threat to World PeaceBy the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

[Editor’s note: The following text is excerpted from a press conference held by Minister Farrakhan in Detroit, Michigan, on October 8, 2002, giving an analysis of President Bush’s national address concerning the Iraqi Threat, delivered at the Cincinnati Museum Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, Oct. 7, 2002. In light of recent developments Min. Farrakhan’s guidance and warning to President Bush are proving to be correct. Click here to order this message.]

In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

I respectfully say to the American people, if you remain silent in an hour like this, then you will deserve the consequences of what President Bush is about to do.

Last night, the President of the United States came before the American people to make the case against Saddam Hussein and Iraq, and to set forth the predicate for war. It was a brilliant speech—sober, brilliant, appealing to the grieving American people. The question that I ask, and that the American people should and must ask, is "what is the basis of the speech that the President made last night?"

Is it based on truth and in actual fact? We must plumb that speech, because we are not permitted to make judgments on assumptions; to make judgments on “maybe,” “ifs” and “what I believe to be the case.” Once we assume something to be true, we must not make the judgment on the assumption, but the assumption should lead us to find the actual fact. And based on the actual fact or truth, then we have the rationale to find the solution to the problem at hand, coming out of actual facts.

Our teacher, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, told us, as his students, that we could never arrive at a just conclusion without first seeking and knowing the actual facts. What the President laid out last night was a brilliant case, but a case not made on actual facts. And if the actual facts are not present, then to commit this nation to war on assumptions, on “ifs” and “maybes” and “if this” and “perhaps that,” then American lives will be lost on the basis of bad judgment and the lives of Iraqis will be lost on the basis of bad judgment. In the Bible and in the Holy Qur’an, wicked rulers veiled the eyes of the people with falsehood, that they would take falsehood for truth and truth for falsehood.

If we listened to our President last night, we would be ready this morning to give him the vote that he asked for, and get ready for war. But if we are wise people to question the President and ask him, "Sir, what are the actual facts?" Then, we might get answers that we would not be willing to rush to judgment on.

For instance, “Saddam Hussein is the greatest threat to world peace.” Truth or falsehood? What is the actual fact? Here is a man whose country is 6,000 miles from here, or more. He has no rockets to reach these shores, no bombs to reach these shores, but the President says: “He has weapons of mass destruction.” What is the proof of that?

Since 1998, when the inspectors left—he didn’t kick them out—they left because 95 percent of their work, according to the head, which was Richard Butler, was done. Five percent needed to be done, but America did not want the sanctions on Iraq lifted. After America told them to come out, bombs fell on Iraq for four days. What was the result of that? There were spies inserted among the UNSCOM inspectors to find out where he was and where his cache of conventional weapons were, because they had already destroyed 95 percent of the weapons of mass destruction that they found.

They say that this man, Saddam Hussein, has gassed his own people, started a war with Iran. But who was at the base of it? If you want to be truthful, don’t say a half-truth, tell the whole truth. When Imam Khomeini came to power in Iran and threatened the Gulf area, Saudi Arabia sent $80 billion to Iraq, and with the backing of the United States of America, Iraq went to war with Iran. Fact. If they used weapons of mass destruction, they got the technology from whom? The United States of America. With the $80 billion that Saudi gave to Iraq, they spent much of it with France, to build the atomic reactor—for peaceful purposes—that Israel bombed as soon as it was built.

So, now, is this man the greatest threat to world peace, or is it the President of the United States? It seems like there are only three nations that want to attack Iraq; Israel, Britain and the United States. Where is the rest of the world? The rest of the world has said to President Bush, they do not advise this. Turkey said, we do not advise this. Kuwait said, we do not advise this. Saudi Arabia said, we do not advise this. These are the neighbors of President Saddam Hussein, so if they don’t feel threatened by him, why is America threatened?

Just ask questions, Brothers and Sisters, because peace and war is serious today. Because if the nation goes to war, we, as Black people, have over 400,000 young Black men and women in the armed services of the United States, along with Hispanics and Arabs and Asians and poor Whites.

The rich are not there. The Cheneys of the world, the Bushes of the world, the Rumsfelds of the world, the Perles and the Wolfowitzs of the world, they are not there; but our sons and daughters, our cousins, our aunts, our uncles are there. And they are patriotic, but their patriotism should not be manipulated by the President with lies and half-truths and assumptions and maybes. Let’s look at some more of these so-called truths.

“He disobeyed 18 resolutions of the UN.” True. How many did Israel disobey? Why don’t you bring that up? There have been over 91 UN resolutions not followed, most of them by Israel. There would have been more, but the U.S. has used their veto over 50 times on resolutions condemning Israel for this or that. So, if now the United Nations is going to be made irrelevant if it doesn’t do what America wants, is it also irrelevant because it has not done for Israel or Morocco or Turkey or others?

The President, brilliant as his speech was, sober as it was, he did not tell the absolute truth. He says, we do not want war; war is not inevitable. And he sets the bar so high on Saddam: “if he does not disarm … if he does not disarm …” Then his surrogates that are out speaking are saying, “We don’t know where the weapons of mass destruction are. After all, the country is as big as France, so he could hide weapons of mass destruction anywhere. So the only way we can be sure that he has given up weapons of mass destruction, we must have a regime change.”

Now, is that in harmony with international law? No, it is not. No government, no matter what you think of that ruler, has the right to go into another man’s house and change that leadership under the pretext that he is addicted to weapons of mass destruction—that he does not have, but America has, England has, France has, Israel has.

These three great nations have been the tyrants that have subjugated Africa, Asia and the nations of the world. Yet they have it, but no other nation should have it. And America has said any nation that will threaten American military superiority, she feels she has the right for a preemptive strike.

This is the Bush doctrine—preemptive strike—from the greatest military power on the earth, that a perceived threat is a justification to unleash the terrible power of America’s military might.

I thank God for those Congresspersons, White and Black, who are standing up to say let us not be like sheep herded into this vote. But I think the President will get the vote that he seeks. Senator Robert Byrd is correct; it is only the U.S. Congress that has the right to make war. To send the militia of the United States to quell insurrection and to ward off threats from outside, that’s the priority of the Congress. This resolution, if it will pass in the form that it was given, would give the President the power to make war, as an individual.

He said, “I have a personal reason here. This man tried to kill my dad.” Truth or falsehood? Seymour Hersh wrote in The New Yorker magazine in 1993 that this was false. Why would Saddam want to kill the ex-president? No matter how he felt about President Bush, that would bring on him the swift retaliation of the greatest nation on earth.

It is said, by those who are wise, and Seymour Hersh examined that carefully, that this was concocted because President Clinton wanted to find some way of rapprochement with Iraq, and the pro-Israeli lobby in Washington did not want that. So, the CIA concocted this kind of story, and now evidence has been sent to the President that this is not so, but he keeps saying it.
“He gassed his own people.” U.S. Army War College has scholars and scientists that would say that he did use gas. He did, against the Iranians, and they used it too, and America looked the other way, hoping that Iraq would win, but not come out strong. So when the war was over, the power of Iran was weakened, but Iraq still had military strength that had to be destabilized, in order to protect Israel.

Now the truth of the matter is the UN Resolution 687, article 14 says the whole Middle East should be clean of weapons of mass destruction—not just Iraq, but Israel as well. Nobody has said anything to Israel, but Israel has atomic weapons, all of the weapons of mass destruction. Israel has rockets to deliver them anywhere in the Arab world.

What America and her allies do not want is any Arab nation to have that kind of power to bring about détente, or balance, so that negotiations could come and a peace agreement that is just be settled between the Palestinians and the Israelis.

In my conclusion, this is supposed to be a government of, by, and for the American people. Over the years, democracy is being eroded because of corporate dollars spent on Congress and powerful lobbies that manipulate those whom we send to Congress, that their vote may be in favor of these lobbies rather than speak the will of the American people.

Three weeks ago, in the halls of the Senate, the former prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, urged American senators to go to war with Iraq. Imagine the arrogance of a foreign national to come to the Congress of the United States and urge the senators to send our children to war. It is the tail wagging the dog.

I respectfully say to the American people, if you remain silent in an hour like this, then you will deserve the consequences of what President Bush is about to do. Because when you take part in that which is evil, then the consequence of that evil, you share in that.

I say to the pastors, preachers and teachers, we are to be the ambassadors of Christ and Muhammad for peace. If we see our president in error, it is our duty to speak truth to power. Otherwise, we are unfit to stand before the people as servants of God.

I thank God that I live in the United States of America, where the framers of the Constitution give me the right of dissent and the right of free speech, which I hope to exercise responsibly. I am not crying fire where there is no fire in a theater. I am crying out to the American people to rise up, because your president is the world threat to peace.

Knowledge of time

Knowledge of Time
By the Honorable Elijah Muhammad

If only the American so-called Negroes had knowledge of the time in which we now live, they would accept Islam at once; for it is just the acceptance of Islam which will bring the so-called Negroes the things they desire; good homes, money and friendship in all walks of life. This is the time that they should enjoy such heaven—the Time of God. They are really chosen by God to be His people, and not the Jews nor White Christians. It is you, the American so-called Negro, but it is just you who are blind, deaf and dumb to the knowledge of the Time of your salvation and the judgment and death of your enemies.

Remember the story of Moses and his people. Jehovah said to Moses: “I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and I have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows” (Ex. 3:7). Jehovah had seen and heard the afflictions and cries of His people, while His people were yet dumb to the knowledge of Him, for they called not on Him. They worshipped the gods of Pharaoh and his people and not Jehovah Who was the God of their fathers. Jehovah had not represented Himself as being the God of Pharaoh and his people. It was to the slaves of Pharaoh and the slaves’ fathers that Jehovah, their God, was to show mercy and deliverance.

Pharaoh was against Jehovah and His religion and the people of Jehovah who were his slaves. So it is and Allah’s true religion of Islam. But it is time that the mentally dead Negroes, who are afflicted daily by the evil hand of White America, should be delivered and given freedom, justice and equality and a land that they can call their own. Day and night their cries go up into the ear of Allah, the God of our people (the Muslims).

We cannot hope for justice from the devils when by nature there is none in them. All the day long the Negroes are mistreated. If Allah and I, His servant, will not stand up for them, who shall stand up for them? You, by far, are unable to do so; for you know not God. The devils have you afraid and worshipping that which you know not. Fear not and come follow me and God will love you and will set you in heaven at once while you live.

Jehovah told Moses to go first to the elders of Israel and say to them: “The Lord your God (not Pharaoh’s) the God of your fathers, He has appeared unto me saying, “I have surely visited you and have seen that which is done unto you in Egypt (America)” (Ex. 3:16). But the elders would not even meet with Moses, only by way of disputation.

Unity generates power to change reality

Unity generates power to change reality

By the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

[Editor’s note: The following article is based on excerpts from the keynote address delivered by Minister Farrakhan to the Mass Assembly of the Millions More Movement held on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on October 15, 2005 in Commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the Million Man March. In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

The most important thing that has happened today—which has never happened in our history—is that we have seen an unprecedented number of Black leaders of organizations coming together to speak to America and the world with one voice. Our whole spectrum of Black thought was represented here on the stage in front of the Capitol of the United States of America. This tells us that a new day is dawning in America and the world, starting with the unity of “the dry bones in the valley.”

This is more than a moment in time, for no matter how many people who came, if there is a million or less or more, the meaning of this day is not today; the meaning of this day will be determined by what we do tomorrow to create a real movement among our people. The time has never been more ripe for a strategic relationship between the Black, Brown, Native American and the poor of this nation and the world.

Hurricane Katrina showed us the neglect of the United States of America, the failure of state government, federal government and local government to answer the critical needs of our people. I put more attention on the federal government, because there were four hurricanes last year that hit Florida and there was no neglect, or very little that we read of; certainly there was no great loss of life. What happened to the federal government’s response to the suffering victims of Hurricane Katrina and what lessons are we to learn from this?

I believe that we can charge the government with criminal neglect of the people of Louisiana and Mississippi, and New Orleans in particular. While we cannot sue the federal government, we can sue Homeland Security and FEMA for criminal neglect. We need to consider a class action lawsuit on behalf of the citizens of New Orleans who have lost everything because the government is not acting responsibly to give them back what they have lost and return them to their homes.

If a mother leaves her child in her car on a hot day to run into a supermarket, locks the door and windows, and stays a little longer than she had planned, and comes out to find her child is dead, certainly it was not her intention to kill her child. But the law says it was criminal neglect.

For five days, the government did not act after Hurricane Katrina hit, and lives were lost. I cannot say what the intention was of the government; I will leave it to others to make that determination. But I firmly believe that, if the people on those rooftops had blond hair, blue eyes and pale skin, something would have been done in a more timely manner. We charge America with criminal neglect. I hope that the lawyers will look into that, because a class action lawsuit on behalf of those who have suffered is absolutely necessary. We need to call witnesses to the witness stand under the oath of being able to be charged with perjury. We want to know what happened to the levy. We do not want to guess about it or be guilty of following rumors. We want to know what happened to that levy that caused the suffering of thousands of people. Now, they are saying that they do not even want to rebuild the 9th Ward. So where will those residents live? The government will not do what they should do if we do not do what we must do.

I understand that there are nearly 2,500 of our children missing. Nobody seems to know where they are. That is a crime of great proportions in a country where, I recently learned, 70,000 children from poor nations around the globe are here in sex slavery. Where are our children? Can we stand by and allow it to be said that 2,500 of our babies are missing and we will not rise up, as a people, to demand to know where our children are? That is an ugly picture, Brothers and Sisters, and those kinds of pictures will continue until and unless we see the need to organize and mobilize.

On the 1st of September in Atlanta, Ga., a meeting of the elders took place that was inspired by a 5-year-old girl who was having a bad day in Florida and we saw police put that little girl in handcuffs, shackle her feet and put her in the back of a police car. The police authority would not release that child to her mother. They are being sued today. Our grandparents, our parents, our youth, we have seen them all in chains. But now a new picture has evolved. We are seeing our babies in chains. Our people are being herded into the criminal justice system.

During the council of elders in Atlanta, Harry Belafonte, who is not only a great folk singer, but also a marvelous and wonderful humanitarian, shared that one of his heroes is Eleanor Roosevelt. He said that Eleanor Roosevelt invited him to the White House along with Black leaders such as the distinguished A. Phillip Randolph. At the dinner table with President Franklin Delanor Roosevelt, A. Phillip Randolph stood to list a litany of abuses of Black people and a litany of things that President Roosevelt could do to ease those abuses. Mr. Belafonte said when A. Phillip Randolph finished, the president did not speak immediately. He opened a box of cigars, passed cigars around to everyone at the table, and then said to A. Phillip Randolph, “Everything that you said about the abuses of your people I agree with and everything that you said I could do to end those abuses, I agree with. But Phillip, there’s something that I want you to do.” Mr. Randolph asked, “what is that, Mr. President?” and President Roosevelt said to A. Phillip Randolph, “Go and make me do it.”

We should reflect on those words, as we stand on the Capitol steps and on this great Washington Mall. President Roosevelt may have been willing to do it, but he knew that if we did not organize enough force to make him do it, those around him would have stopped him from doing it.

As it was during the time of President Roosevelt, it has been throughout the presidencies, up to President George Bush today. The government will never do for the poor of this nation until and unless we organize effectively to make the government respond to the needs of the poor. The burden is not on the White House; the burden is on us. Our 43 members of Congress, as brilliant and committed as they are, are impotent without the organization of those of us who need to see change. You would make a mistake and waste valuable time thinking that there is moral correctness in the government to serve the needs of the poor. That we must dispel. We must go back home and organize as never before. Hurricane Katrina grew to a Number 12 tropical storm and then she grew to become a Category 1 hurricane. What was the difference between Katrina as a Number 12 tropical storm and a Category 1 hurricane? It was the degree of organization within that storm. The more organized it became, it went up in category, and then you saw people fleeing by the hundreds of thousands, fearing the consequence of the onslaught of a number 4 or number 5 hurricane. What is the lesson?

The more we are organized, the more we can generate power to change reality. The more we unify, the more power we can generate to change reality. I thank Allah (God) for the leaders who spoke today and I pray that we all are sincere, but I think that all of us in leadership need to be made accountable. There are those who are lip professors, who will come among us and say, “Surely, we are with you,” as the Holy Qur’an says, “but when they are alone with their devils, they say, ‘We are only mocking.’” But Allah (God) says in the Holy Qur’an, “In their hearts is a disease and Allah increases that disease because they lie.”

All leaders must understand that this is a very dangerous time to play with the destiny of the people. If you love life, then do not play games with the destiny of a people who are crying to breathe free. Organizing is serious and there are those who do not want to see us unify. This is written of in scripture, in the parable of a great image made of a head of gold, a breastplate of silver, legs of iron, and feet of iron mixed with miry clay. Gold is the heaviest metal; that is the head, so it is top heavy. That is the rich. The breastplate of silver represents the next richest. But the legs that support the head of gold have feet that have iron mixed with miry clay. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught us that those feet represented the weakness of the world that we are living in. We are living in a world where the rich are a few and the poor are many, but it is the poor who are supporting the rich. That is why the rich hate anyone who can stimulate the consciousness of the poor.

Those of you who are Christian, it was the poor who heard the message of Jesus gladly. The Roman rulers were frightened of Jesus and they had to come against him, because stirring the poor is like troubling those feet of iron mixed with miry clay, since it was a weak foundation for such a heavy head. If you disturb the poor, the rich come down. So, a movement is dangerous to the few who have power over many.

Are you sure that you want a movement? Are you sure that you want to organize effectively to change your reality? If you are sure, then you should be ready for severe opposition. There is no idea worth anything that is not tested by opposition. Opposition is as necessary as the wind that blows and the sun that shines. In order to test the strength of the idea and the commitment of those who support the idea, we must be tested by opposition. So when we go back home, we should know that our work has just begun. What should we do when we go back home? Since the government has shown us that they really do not care, we cannot let another catastrophe come and we are not prepared.

The Bible says, “In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, the Word was God,” but the Word did not stay a Word. The Word became flesh and dwelled among men. It makes no difference what we say, because a lot of us are good talkers. It will make a difference what we do. What we say can only become flesh if we go from this place and mobilize and organize, street by street, block by block, house by house so that we can accomplish that which we desire for the good of ourselves and our people.

We should form a Ministry of Health and Human Service. Jesus said, “Those who would be chief among you, let him be your servant.” We, in leadership, and our organizations are not here to master the people, but to serve the people. So, if such a disaster comes again, we need a Ministry of Health and Human Service to look after the health needs of the Black, Brown, Native American and the poor. President Fidel Castro, in Cuba, offered America over 1,500 doctors that spoke English to help with the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. Our government, out of pride, did not accept those doctors. I think we should find a way to accept those doctors, because our people need medical attention. If the government will not permit us to do that, we have a just cause to make them show why we—who have hospitals closing in Washington and in cities across the country—do not need doctors.

President Castro has offered Blacks in America 500 scholarships to go to Cuba to study medicine with only one stipulation—that we must practice medicine in our own communities. Let us accept Fidel Castro’s offer, and when our doctors return home, let us form a Ministry of Health and Human Service that we can use to serve the needs of the Black, Brown, Red and the poor of this nation.

We need a Ministry of Agriculture. The Black farmers are suffering. We need to unite our Black farmers, make their land productive and tie that land to the needs of the city. The Native Americans have the largest tracts of land and, according to what I learned from Brother Bob Brown of the All African Peoples’ Revolutionary Party, they are willing to lease millions of acres if we are ready to go to work. As long as we keep our mouths in the kitchen of our enemy, we will never have good health. We must provide food for ourselves because the merchants of death are feeding the American people and they are tied to the pharmaceutical companies. They create disease, on one hand, through the improper raising of food and livestock and then they make pills, on the other hand, to correct what they have created.

We need a Ministry of Agriculture, because farming is the engine of every nation and we need to provide for ourselves the things that we consume. This will cause us to want to build supermarkets in every city, canning factories and frozen food factories so we can take our products from the ground, can it or freeze it, and put it into our own supermarkets.

We need a Ministry of Education. Let us unite all of our educators because the western system of education has run its course and is no longer worthy to hold our children or America’s children. We are calling on our educators to provide a new educational paradigm. If our educators form themselves into a ministry, a service, then we will be able to educate our children and others and make a productive people.

We need a Ministry of Defense. Our young men are born soldiers, but they are in the wrong war. They are fighting a war in the streets of America against each other, or they are fighting an unjust war overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq. We need to bring our boys home and put them into the Ministry of Defense, so we can defend our communities, rather than destroy our communities.

We need a Ministry of Art and Culture. We applaud the hip hop community, the leaders of young people all over the world, but I want the young generation of artists to know there is a bigger purpose for art and culture than popping our fingers and shaking our backsides. Mao Tse Tung, throughout his long march to conquer China, had a billion people whose lives he had to transform. Many of them were victims of opium, drugs and prostitution, like we are. But Mao Tse Tung went to the cultural community and they accepted his idea. Then, through song, dance, poetry, drama, documentaries, movies and books, the idea of Mao Tse Tung became the idea of a billion people. China became a world power on the base of culture and the artistic community. If we had a Ministry of Art and Culture in every city, as we create this movement, we could say to our young people, “What is the idea of the Time and are you reflecting that idea in your songs, dance and music?

We need a Ministry of Trade and Commerce. Do you think that a Millions More Movement should not be involved in the development of Africa, the Caribbean and Central America? If we started feeding ourselves, the billions that we spend on food could be spent elsewhere. We need clothing and shelter. Our clothes and shoes are made in another country. If we pooled some of the money that we spend foolishly, we could set up factories in Africa and the Caribbean, where the labor market is a little cheaper than the labor here. If they made our clothes, then we could open up clothing stores all over America, sell them cheaper than the market and then capture the market of the people. Africa can be a source of shoes and clothing and lots of other things that we may not be able to successfully make in America. So we need a Ministry of Trade and Commerce that can link the struggle here with Africa and the Caribbean, Central and South America. We have a market of nearly 90 million Black and Brown people. That is a huge market. We should tap that market so we will not have to beg others; we will be able to do it ourselves.

We need a Ministry of Justice. We need to look at the conflicts in our own community. We do not need to go to our slave-masters to solve our problems. We need to have a Ministry of Justice in every city that can solve the conflicts among us.

We need a Ministry of Information. We need to gather all the Black newspapers and magazines, Black radio and television stations into a Ministry of Information. If we have enough money in our ministry, we can send our reporters wherever we want to investigate the truth. We do not wish to be subjected to the Associated Press, Reuters, UPI or to the managed news of America and the world. We need to be where the action is so that our people will get correct information.

We need a Ministry of Science and Technology, and lastly, we need a ministry that deals with the head and spirit of our people. We need to collect our spiritual leaders of Christianity, Islam, Judaism and other religions and develop a spiritual teaching that will transform our lives by renewing our minds, that we may destroy the Willie Lynch syndrome in Black people in America and throughout the world forever.

This assembly today is about the repair of ourselves and our people in Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America. Allah (God) has given us the medicine to heal our condition. The government cannot heal us, because they do not have any power to heal themselves. The medicine is with us to transform our lives. There is money in our community. We get a quarter of a trillion dollars into our hands. The education is among us. All we need is the will and the unity and we can repair what has been broken.

Dr. Conrad Worrill read a word from Brother Malcolm on reparations. That demand must be made, but it must be backed by the power of an organized people. Native Americans have demands to make of this government for lands and wealth that is due them, promises that were made, treaties that were broken, but they, of themselves, are weak to get what the government owes them. But together, we, as a united people, can make a demand on behalf of the Native Americans, ourselves, as well as the Latinos whose families are being broken up. United, we can solve these problems, but divided we keep injustice in power.

What are you fighting for in America’s wars? You do not need to be in Iraq and Afghanistan. We need to be cleaning up the neighborhood where we live and stop the bloodletting where we live and we can stop the White police from shooting us down. We demand that America do justice by the children of slaves.

We have not given up our place in Africa or our rights to Africa. Africa is ours and we should claim it and help rebuild it and make it the great power that Africa is destined to become. Brothers and Sisters of the Caribbean, Africa is trying to unite to form the United States of Africa. The Caribbean cannot continue to exist as little island nations. There must be a union of all the islands into a Caribbean Union with Venezuela and Cuba.

If those islands would unite, examine the value of their land to produce what they consume and then export their surplus, their unity will make the islands less marginalized in the future. The sugar cane industry and banana industry are gone. Why are we sending our children to colleges in the Caribbean? So that they can serve rich Black, White and Brown people who come to lay up in the sun on vacation? We do not want to be the servants of others if we are not going to be the servants of ourselves. Unite Caribbean, unite. The pace of the development of the United States of Africa is moving too slow. We want to help give you a little push because you are holding up the future of Africa’s children by your slowness. Whatever we can do to help, we are your Brothers. We stand by you.

We are told in the Preamble of the Constitution that, if the government fails to give the people life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, we have the right to change the government. We have the right to reform it or abolish it. You have to decide, America, what you want to do. If you want to reform it, regime change is necessary, but you have to get out of power the neo-conservative idea of an imperialist America. We should take America back from the rich and give it to the people, if it really is for the people.

To the union leaders who spoke today, you need to think over your pride because this government is destroying unions. It is destroying workers and the wages that workers and unions have fought to give the worker. So what should the worker do? Look at the billions that you have in pension funds? We should sit down together to examine the money and resources that we have collectively, and then start buying America. America is for sale. We can buy tens of thousands of acres of land and begin food production, preparing warehouses and begin agribusiness. Labor leaders should get involved in producing a new food base and the billions that we spend on food will give jobs to the jobless and put money in the hands of the labor unions—but if the labor unions will not do it, let our unity do it. Let us put our finance together and build the Millions More Movement.

2008 exclusive interview with Minister Farrakhan

Exclusive Interview with Minister Louis Farrakhan By FinalCall.com News
Guidance and Wisdom for 2008:

The Final Call Newspaper’s Exclusive Year-End Interview With The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

[Editor’s note: As the world prepared to enter the new year, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan shared with Final Call Editor-in-Chief Abdul Arif Muhammad his perspective on the major national and international news events of 2007, and offered guidance for what lies ahead in 2008.]

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

THE FINAL CALL (FC): As-Salaam Alaikum, Sir. Thank you for granting The Final Call this interview. Brother Minister, we began 2007 with your recovering from a major 14-hour surgery to correct a health condition that brought you to death’s door for a third time.

What are your thoughts and reflections on how Almighty God has tried your faith over the last eight years by taking you to death’s door and restoring your health? What can others learn from your experience?

MINISTER LOUIS FARRAKHAN (MLF): Wa-Alaikum Salaam. First I would like to thank The Final Call, and you, particularly, for these questions, and I pray that Allah will bless me with the answers.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad told me that things of great importance come in threes. I didn’t quite understand what he meant, but it is interesting that God brought me to death’s door three times in the last eight years. God is teaching a servant that He has power over death, and not to fear those who desire to put an end to my life because of the truth that I teach that came to me from the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, who received it from Allah in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad.

There are many who hate His truth, and there are many who do not believe that God visited us and raised the Honorable Elijah Muhammad for us, so we have enemies within and without; enemies in the government of the United States; and enemies among some of the most powerful Satanic minds in America and the world. And since I am trying to carry out the mission of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, those who feared the success of his mission have in their hearts a desire to destroy Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.

The God Who allowed me to go to death’s door three times, and when all thought that I was gone, He intervened and brought me back. This is to say to the world that no matter what the government of the United States and those powerful forces determine that they want to do to Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam, it may look bad for a while, but we must put our trust in Allah. As He brought me from death’s door three times, He will protect me from the forces of death and He will protect the Nation of Islam from the same, so we will be able to say when victory comes, “Oh grave, where is your victory? Oh death, where is your sting?” for death and hell are swallowed up in the victory of God and His Apostle.

FC: When you decided to rebuild the Nation of Islam in September 1977, you delivered your first national address in 1978 titled “The Ultimate Challenge: The Survival of the Black Nation.” How are the challenges we faced then different from the challenges we now face to survive as a people as we enter 2008?

MLF: The challenges are the same, but much more intense because we have arrived at the time, now, when the forces of evil—the Satanic forces of this world—see the Black nation as an ultimate threat and see our rise in their faces. Now, they have determined to destroy us as a people, so the Black male is under attack. Many are saying that the Black male is an endangered species, and according to scientists, when a species is endangered, the next step from endangerment is extinction. Although the enemy plans our extinction, he is planning his own, but he knows it not.

FC: Black America has witnessed in 2007 several cases of racial hatred and violence that represented national issues of injustice: The Jena 6, Megan Williams, Martin Lee Anderson, Sean Bell and Genarlow Wilson. What lessons must we learn from these incidents, and what actions must we take as a community to safeguard ourselves against future events?

MLF: Today’s generation of young Black people do not know the enemy as their fathers and grandfathers knew the enemy. We have thought that we could get along with the enemy in peace, but the Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught us that there can be no peace between us and our former slave masters and their children as long as we do not go along with the status quo. When we demand Justice, Freedom and Equity, we excite the worst in our slave masters and their children, and they come against us. These cases of The Jena 6, Megan Williams, Martin Lee Anderson, Sean Bell, and Genarlow Wilson—they are just a smidgen of what is going on throughout America by evil White people bent on teaching us a lesson.

Well, what lessons must we learn? We are in the Valley of the Shadow of Death. What lesson must we learn? We must unite or suffer the consequences, for these events are going to multiply at such a pace that every Black person in America will see the face of a beast that has been masquerading as a friend.

FC: After Saviours’ Day 2007, you delivered a series of spiritual messages under the general title of “One Nation Under God,” culminating with your message “Come Out of Her, My People” delivered at the 12th Anniversary Commemoration of the Million Man March on Oct. 16, 2007 in Atlanta, Ga.

What is your statement to Black America about the significance and prophetic meaning of these messages for our survival?

MLF: The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said once that it is more important to teach separation than to teach prayer.

Allah (God) knows that we need prayer, but if we don’t separate from an enemy bent on our destruction, prayer alone will not help us to survive. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad points out to us in the scriptures of Bible and Qur’an that the day has arrived for our separation, and the enemy has used integration as a hypocritical trick to make those of us who have been under his foot for 400 years think that our 400-year-old enemy has all of a sudden become our friend.

We must wake up to the time and what must be done in such a time. It is not a time for integration; it is a time for us to separate from our former slave-masters and their children and go for self, do for self, and build a Nation under The Guidance of Almighty God.

FC: In September 2007, you brought nearly 1,000 Student Laborers to a Conference at The Farm. The theme of this conference was “Making His Word Bond.” The Student Laborers were introduced to the process of Deliberative Dialogue, with a goal that it would help free the Believer in the Mosque to be able give their gifts, skills and talents to their Nation.

At the conference, you removed all titles, and asked us to be students and servants. Though it may have been a bitter pill for some, it was good medicine for all who would accept. Please explain.

MLF: Titles presuppose qualification. When people who are not qualified wear a title that suggests qualification, it tends to make the title-wearer believe that they are qualified to administer the authority of such a title. What that does is it impedes not only the progress of the mosque or the Nation, but it impedes the development of the individual, for the individual, in thinking they are what they are not, refuses to study to become what they are called.
One of the things that I have noticed about the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, and there is something that I read in Dale Carnegie’s book “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” is that he said “Give a person a good name to live up to.”

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad called us “Muslims.” That is our nature; a Muslim is a righteous person—he is giving us a good name to live up to.

In the 1930s, we started a school called “The University of Islam.” The Honorable Elijah Muhammad was calling it what he eventually wanted it to become, but he was giving us a good name so we would continue to strive to be the University.

Well, calling us “Minister” without qualification could make us think that because we speak well, or we could give a few lectures and people cheer, that we now have become what we are called, and we stop striving. Because of that, I removed all titles so that we would see ourselves as we are in the Nation—all Students of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad in the Classroom of God.
We are being qualified by God, through the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, to become great Laborers in His cause, but we have not arrived yet, so we now need to take away from ourselves the arrogance that attends title; the arrogance that attends authority, that allows us to abuse ourselves and others because we arrogate to ourselves that we have arrived, when in fact we have not.

We are asking everyone in the Nation of Islam, as they come into the Nation as Students, to remain Students and to take on the mind of a Servant, for that is what Jesus asked of his disciples: “If any man would be great among you, let him be your Servant.”

We have never functioned like that in this world. In this world, when you get a big title, you want people to serve you—not you serve people. Jesus reversed this, and so did Muhammad, that when you meet such men as Muhammad and Jesus, then you become a Student and a Servant of others in the Way of God.

FC: You recently introduced to the Nation a series of Tuesday classes dealing with Deliberative Dialogue and the Science of Management conducted by Brother Dr. Abdul Alim Muhammad and Brother Michael Muhammad.

What are the aims, goals and objectives for these series of classes? How do you believe that these classes will benefit the Believer or any person who would participate?

MLF: In our instructions from the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, he told us that we should speak the truth regardless of whom or what. He taught us that the heavens and the earth are created in truth, and truth is the only power that sustains the universe.

He told us, “Have no quarreling among the Believers.” If we can’t quarrel with one another, certainly we are not permitted to fight one another, so what is it that settles argument? It is law; it is truth.

In the process of Deliberative Dialogue, we dialogue over the things that we have disagreement over until we reach consensus, or truth. And since you want truth, I want truth and we all want truth, if we unite on the basis of truth, then we have the power of truth and our unity to accomplish whatever objective is in front of us.

The process of Deliberative Dialogue can help us in our homes to ease conflict between siblings and to ease conflict in marital relationships. Even though the male is in authority by God’s permission from both Bible and Qur’an, and the nature in which He created male and female, yet authority must rest with truth. So, if the female brings to the male; or the subordinate brings to the superior, truth, we cannot use our superior position to knock down a person who brings us truth. If truth is the boss in our house, then whenever truth is spoken, we bow before the Majesty of Truth and in that truth, we find unity and power.

Also, we need to learn the Science and the Art of Management. Managing our lives; managing our families; managing our resources; managing a business; managing a mosque; managing a corporate entity—all of it is based on immutable laws that are scientific. Once we learn the Science and the Art of Management, we become better suited to work in a cause that is bigger than ourselves.

FC: We have been blessed on Friday nights for you to conduct Spiritual Classes into the meaning of The Supreme Wisdom Lessons given by Master Fard Muhammad to His servant, the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

How will our understanding of the revelation contained in The Supreme Wisdom Lessons prepare us to be better helpers in The Mission and Cause of the rise of our people?

MLF: To understand that Master Fard Muhammad, To Whom Praise is Due Forever, was and is the Best Friend of the Black Nation; and He studied 42 years to deliver us from the torment and oppression of our oppressor. These Lessons that He gave us, which He called “Supreme Wisdom”—if properly plumbed [examined]; if properly understood—gives us insight into the beautiful metaphors in the Bible and Qur’an.

There is much truth in the Bible, but it is put in a language that makes it difficult for the lay person to grasp the esoteric or inner meaning of the scripture. So it is with the Qur’an, but the Qur’an says there are verses in the book that are decisive, and there are verses that are allegorical, and those in whose hearts is a disease love the allegorical parts.

These Supreme Wisdom Lessons cause us to communicate with the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and his Teacher at the Highest Level of Communication.

If the man that came is The Mahdi—one in Whom is the indwelling Mind, Spirit, Knowledge, Wisdom and Power of God—and He raised a question, then if we get in touch with His question to His Prime Student, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad; and get in touch with the answers that he gave to his Teacher’s questions, then we are in touch with Two People Who Are The Most Important People for the time in which we live.

Communicating with these Two, through such interplay with questions and answers, energizes us to the point that our whole mind, spirit and body takes on change due to the High Level of Spiritual Energy that comes to us from contact with these Two Men. This leads us to God’s message to Prophet Muhammad.

A God; an Eternal God giving a prophet a message—we need insight into that great message of the Qur’an, and these Supreme Wisdom Lessons help us to see the relationship between God and a Student: Allah and Muhammad. By entering into that discourse with God and a Student, we become Students of God, and, therefore, grow into the Mind, Wisdom and Spirit of God, Himself.

FC: As part of your “One Nation Under God” series, you taught a lecture titled “The Fall of The Dollar.” We have witnessed in 2007 the steady decline of the U.S. dollar, which is now devalued against the Canadian currency. In the international arena, we see the rise of the Euro, which is beginning to replace the U.S. dollar as the currency standard.

How must we now prepare ourselves in this current economic crisis as the dollar continues to fall? What is the prophetic meaning of the fall of the U.S. dollar?

MLF: We should amass as many of these falling dollars as possible, and use the falling dollar that is losing its value every day against the currencies of the world to then buy that which will only increase in value. This is why today, with a falling dollar, Europeans and Asians are now investing heavily in America with their dollar reserves.

Since we collectively have dollars, shouldn’t we pool these dollars with someone whom we trust? Then, we should go and buy something that does not decrease in value: Land, from which we get food, clothing and shelter, to build for ourselves a new and independent economy.

Of course, the prophetic meaning of the fall of the U.S. dollar is the fall of the United States government, as the Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught me when the German Mark lost its value, the German government came down behind the fall of its currency.

The government of the United States is tearing itself apart. When the dollar falls, what will happen to the minds of the people—who have been manipulated, deceived and robbed—when they are not able to get the value of what they have worked so hard for? I read something recently that said when this event comes to pass (the fall of the dollar and the collapse of the stock market), it will make what happened in 1929 look like a “walk in the park.”

We are facing serious economic hardship. We must unite and pool our resources and get land that we can call our own.

FC: January 2008 will begin the official primary season to select the Democratic and Republican nominee for the White House in 2009. For the first time in American history, we have a female frontrunner: Senator Hilary Rodham Clinton; and a strong African-American contender: Senator Barack Obama, who has great appeal across racial, gender and age categories.

Do these candidacies indicate a real change in America regarding her history of racial and gender bias? Will the hope of a potential female or African-American president change the reality of the Black, Native American, poor and oppressed people of this land who seek Freedom, Justice and Equality?

MLF: These candidates and their rise in popularity among the people do indicate a change in the attitude of many Americans concerning females and Blacks.

Barack Obama has been very careful not to position himself as Reverend Jesse Jackson or Reverend Al Sharpton as a promoter of “The Black Cause.” He has been groomed, wisely so, to be seen more as a unifier, rather than one who speaks only for the hurt of Black people. In this, he has tapped the dissatisfaction of many Whites, Blacks, Hispanics and Asians across the spectrum, because who cares what color you are if you can save them from the mess that they find themselves in.

However, the hope of a potential female or African-American president I don’t think is enough to change the reality of the Black, Native American, poor and oppressed people of this land. There are forces, beyond the president, that dictate how the president presides. There are forces that Barack Obama may see, or may not see, and these are the forces that kill presidents when presidents don’t act as they think the president should act to further their ends; thus the killing of Abraham Lincoln and the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

The forces of racism in this country are still very strong. Even though there is strong mass appeal, if the racist element in this country thinks that Barack Obama will be our next president, they may come out of the woodwork if they can’t bend him, and hurt our Brother, and therefore show the country though the masses may say “We like him,” the forces may say “He is not one of us.”

FC: What is your view of the recent meeting in Annapolis, Maryland by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice claiming to seek a resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict? How does this impact on the international struggle for peace in the Middle East?

MLF: Unfortunately, this is more “smoke and mirrors,” and deception. President Bush has had a miserable tenure in office, and he may leave office with the lowest approval rating of any president in recent history. And being conscious of his legacy, he wants to promote a solution of peace in the Middle East, but not a peace based on true justice for the Palestinian people.
As I said over 20 years ago, there will be no peace for Israel, because there can be no peace as long as that peace is based on lying, stealing, murder, and using God’s name to shield a wicked, unjust practice that is not in harmony with the Will of God.

Twenty years later, Israel still does not have peace, and she will not have peace because there can be no peace without justice for the Palestinian people.

How does this impact on the international struggle for peace? The president now is going to Israel; he is going to Saudi Arabia—what are you going there for? You are going to visit the Palestinians? What are you going there for?

The enemy cannot rule except through the age-old tactic that has always worked for them of “divide and conquer,” because there are differences between the Shia and the Sunni—and Iran is Shia; and Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and much of the Muslim world is Sunni. America knows that if they can go to Saudi Arabia and break any bond between two Muslims, and position those countries and other Muslims in the area against Iran, so that if America should bomb Iran, or, if Israel would bomb Iran, America would have to come in on the side of Israel.

The only way to avert this from happening is that the whole Muslim world must see the aims of President Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who are under the influence of Zionists, and that they can never be dispassionate brokers for peace. Pres. Bush and Sec. Rice will always come down on the side of Israel to the detriment of America and any real peace that could be made in that region of the world.

FC: In 2007, we have witnessed President George W. Bush come face-to-face with the consequences of your warnings to him contained in your letters of December 1, 2001 and October 30, 2002.

Pres. Bush seems determined to continue his war against Islam. He is now attempting to create a climate to justify an attack on the independent nation of Iran. What steps should the international community in general, and the Muslim world in particular, take to avert a war that would engulf the entire world?

MLF: To the international community, I say the principle of justice is the greatest principle of fair dealing. If the international community would deal fairly, they could prevent a war that is triggered by an unprovoked attack on Iran.

However, the Zionists have worked their way into control in America, Britain, France, Germany and other countries of the world, so Europe will not favor a just solution to the problem presented by Iran’s desire for Atomic knowledge, and how to use that knowledge for peaceful purposes.

The Muslim world must understand that Prophet Muhammad was neither Sunni or Shia; He was neither Hanafi, Hanbali, Sufi—none of these names did the Prophet have.
Prophet Muhammad was a Muslim, and the Qur’an says to the Muslims: “Hold fast to the rope of Islam and be not divided.”

If the Muslim world will rise above this sectarianism of Shia and Sunni, and hold fast to Islam, for at the root of that rope is the bearing of witness that “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger.” If the Islamic people will hold onto that rope, and be united around that, we can stop the West from any attempt to bomb Iran.

Or, if they do, our unified response would be devastating to the Western powers.

FC: Recently, you gave a series of lectures titled “Justifiable Homicide.” With the themes “Black Youth in Peril,” “An Executive Decision,” and “The American Gangster,” what did Allah (God) show you that caused you to deliver these messages to our youth? What guidance would you give to our youth who appear to be targets for slaughter by our open enemy?

MLF: For the last 20 years, I have been warning that the war that the President of the United States had called his Joint Chiefs of Staff to discuss was a war that would be seen on two fronts: One in the Middle East with a Muslim nation; and the second, inside America with the tiny little Muslim Nation of Islam, and Black youth in particular.

That is what motivated my “Stop the Killing” tours and my visits to many cities, calling on Black men; and then the Million Man March and the positive effect that march had on the world’s view of the potential of Black men in particular, and Black people in general.

The government’s aim has now come to the point of execution: It is an Executive Decision, at the highest order, that Black youth are a danger to the future of White people.

White people are vexed with our young people, particularly our hip hop artists who are taking their young people away from the racist White Supremist idea. For these young people to be in love with Black sports figures; Black entertainment figures; and now, in admiration of a Black political figure (Barack Obama) signals the end—to them—of White Supremacy.

So the messages of American Gangster promote a “gangster” style of life; promoting drug culture that leads to death, as well as to prison. A gangster style of life puts the enemy in control of the future of our youth if we choose this lifestyle.

The FBI and police departments across the country were mobilized to end the Mafia, Cosa Nostra and “organized crime”—which, of course they have not—however, the FBI and police organizations are now working to destroy gangs and to destroy Black youth who have found refuge in gang life, in gangster life, in drugs and crime. The enemy has closed the factories in the inner cities, leaving Black youth with very little hope of a future.

FC: What is the theme for Saviours’ Day 2008? Would you share with our readers its meaning?

MLF: This Saviours’ Day, our subject matter is: “The Gods At War: The Future is All About Y.O.U.t.h.”—with my focus particularly on Black, Hispanic and Native American youth.
The Future is All About Y.O.U.t.h.; Young People Organized and United To Help in the raising of the consciousness of the people, and putting people to work doing something for self.

That is why we chose this theme for Saviours’ Day, and from Saviours’ Day on, we will be going after our youth, and through the Millions More Movement organizing preachers, politicians and activists to help us to save our young people from the slaughter proposed by this Executive Decision.

But I warn the Government of the United States and all those who have power and will use it against the rise of our people:

I want you to keep your eyes on the weather. Allah (God) is going to demonstrate that there is another Power inside America and throughout the world other than your power, which will stop you from killing our people wholesale. If this Executive Decision is carried forth, it will mean the destruction of the United States of America.

FC: Thank you.
