Why we must work towards self employment

Today with an unpredictable job market and uncertain job futures the time is right for you to go into business for yourself. They say job security is not certain anymore. You may be working today and off tomorrow. Who has time to worry about whether you are going to have money to feed yourself.

Or, look at the meager wages that are paid today, which often just barely let you get by, without having to resort to getting a side income.

I want to ask you a simple question: "Why should you give all of your education and training to build another persons business when you can use that same knowledge to benefit your own business enterprise?"

If you can successfully help run their business, you can potentially successfully run your own. However, you must desire it in your heart and you must have faith in your ability to achieve your goals.

You may say: “But I don’t have a lot of money or I don’t think I can get a loan. I say you can run most businesses from the comfort of your home for low start-up prices and low cost maintenance. Also, you can receive money back from the government for tax deductions when you use your home to run your business.

You can start your business from your home and then maybe a year later expand to a building of your own. However, for the beginner your home is the perfect base for your new operation.

Today with the advent of the home computer and the internet it is easier than ever to get started doing your own thing either part time or full time. When you start-up a home based internet business you can create financial security that you need and have the joy that comes from having something you can call your own. There are many businesses that can be run via the internet like Self publishing e-books or e-zines, run a e-commerce store, affiliate with a company, taking surveys and many more can bring home some extra income.

I do not portray myself as a “guru” or “master” of internet money making. I don’t claim to have made millions of dollars on the internet. I am a person who has been working on the internet for a while. I have had many successes and I have had failures. Yet, through it all, I have gained valuable experience of what works and what doesn’t work in doing business online. I have made money on the internet and I know it can happen for you if you study the available resources and take action. This is not about a get rich quick scheme. Starting this business or any business is work.

Even though some businesses may be easier than others, they all must be worked to bring success to your door.

My walk with Farrakhan Pt.8: Can righteous people sin and can wicked people do righteous deeds?

By
Brother Mustafaa Muhammad
In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

I have written 7 articles detailing different aspects of my faith walk with my spiritual guide, The Hon. Louis Farrakhan. I have been blessed by God during my time of being a student of God’s word under his direction to make some amazing changes in my life since my acceptance of Islam on March 20th, 1996. However, I don’t want anyone, for one second, to think that my life has been perfect for the past 12 years since walking in the path to become a Muslim. I have made an equally fair share of mistakes and yes “sins” since becoming a Muslim.

Sometimes, many religious people let their supposed new righteous life give them the false arrogance that they are better than others. But, I take the view that I am on a journey in the path of God striving to be qualified to be one of his righteous servants. I don’t look down on others, but rather try to encourage others to reach for the best everyday.

I, after 10 years of being a Muslim, during the year 2006 had a major fall in my personal life that tested my faith and made me reflect on my journey deeper.

I will be exploring this sensitive subject of my fall to sin during the 8th part of my article series, My walk with Farrakhan. I won’t give the specific instances where I fell, but I will say that I went from the highest of high to the lowest of low in my personal life.

Before we get into exploring this subject let’s define a few words to ensure we have the clearest possible understanding of the words used in this article. One of the things both The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad and his student The Hon. Louis Farrakhan teaches us as students is to get definitions of the words we use. Also, Minister Malcolm X began his journey to enlightenment just by reading the dictionary and learning the meaning of words.

The word Righteous, according to Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary is defined as,
“1: acting in accord with divine or moral law : free from guilt or sin 2 a: morally right or justifiable b: arising from an outraged sense of justice or morality 3 slang : GENUINE, EXCELLENT”

The word wicked, according to Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary is defined as,
em>“1 a: an offense against religious or moral law b: an action that is or is felt to be highly reprehensible c: an often serious shortcoming : FAULT 2 a: transgression of the law of God b: a vitiated state of human nature in which the self is estranged from God”

Now with a clear definition of the keys words used in this article, we will now proceed to explore this subject of righteous people, wicked people and sin.

Understanding Adam, Sin and falling from grace

“And certainly We gave a commandment to Adam before, but he forgot; and We found in him no resolve (to disobey).” Holy Qur’an 20:115

Both the Bible and The Qur’an speak of ALLAH creating a new man, giving that man specific instructions and that man ultimately falling from grace. This is the daily story of the human family of the earth that is striving in the path of God. Whereas both the Bible and Qur’an relate the same story there are differences in understanding of meaning. The Holy Qur’an takes the position that human beings are created in a state of Islam(natural submission to God) and are pure until our parents, environment or our own deeds take us from the path of righteousness.

The story of Adam and Eve has been used to promote the position that it is natural to sin or the “human” thing to do. In one sense yes humans inevitably make mistakes, but we are not created in the image and likeness of Almighty God to act less. Also, the Holy Qur’an doesn’t blame the woman for leading man into temptation. We learn from reading Sura(chapter) 20:125 that Adam didn’t intend to disobey his Lord, but rather he forgot. We are taught in Islam that all deeds will be judged by our intentions while doing the deed. Some people do good deeds for wicked intentions. Likewise, some people do wicked deeds while feeling the pangs of their conscious.

Yes, Adam fell from his great glory, but did Almighty God give up on him or turn his face from him? The Qur’an teaches that ALLAH turned mercifully towards Adam and “reminded” him of the promise of divine guidance.

I will use the biblical story of the prophets to make the next points in this analysis of righteous people and wicked people. Before I proceed I must make a clarification. The Holy Qur’an accepts all of the prophets mentioned in the Bible as true men of God. However, The Holy Qur’an doesn’t accept the stories attributed to them of unrighteousness. The Qur’an teaches that for the prophets to be examples to purify others they must be pure themselves.

The Bible teaches us of man named Noah who was chosen by God to be a fulfiller of his will. The story further teaches us that Noah was a “righteous" and “just” man(Gen 6:8-9). He was chosen by God to build the Ark and be a savior of his people. After Noah had fulfilled his mission from God and survived the flood, the Bible teaches that the sons of Noah found him in a drunken state. One of the sons of Noah saw the drunken state of his father and told the other brothers. We then learn that the two brothers refused to look at the nakedness of Noah and covered him.

Later, when Noah awoke he cursed (and God upheld the curse) the son (Ham) who looked and blessed the sons (Shem and Japheth) who covered him. The point to this story (from the biblical perspective) is that Noah was a righteous man who did an unrighteous deed, but that didn’t stop God’s favor on him. As for the sons, their refusing to look at their father naked could mean: they chose to look at the good of their father instead of the bad or they refused to judge this aspect of his life.

Another biblical story teaches us of a great king named David, who was the father of Solomon and a forerunner of the Messiah. The Bible teaches that David had a heart after God’s own heart. Yet, despite these great qualities the book informs us of several misdeeds of David. Some scholars have suggested that David violated about 9 of the 10 commandments. However, David is still held up as an example of a true man of God and his kingdom set a standard for all others.

Travelling (travail) on the path of God

I like to describe my faith walk with God as being a journey. I have been on this journey for 12 years and will be on it for the rest of my life. I want you to think about something related to a journey. Imagine if you lived in Pensacola, Florida and you decided to travel to Chicago one day. You would find yourself travelling up I-65 N for a long period of time. Let’s also say this is your first time travelling to the destination, so you are checking your map closely trying to stay on course. Yet, you made a mistake and took a wrong exit, therefore ended up in Kentucky. What fool would sit on the side of the road, give up and never try to make adjustments (checking the map) to get back on the interstate towards your destination. Likewise, in our journey to godliness we may find ourselves making some wrong exist Ex. drugs, alcohol, adultery, lying, stealing etc…

However, we don’t have to stay on these wrong exists. As one would get back on the interstate to continue travelling to a city, we should, if a wrong exit was taken, get back of the path to continue our journey to God.

The Bible perfectly illustrates this point in the following words
“For a righteous man falleth seven times, and riseth up again; But the wicked are overthrown by calamity.”Proverbs 24:16

If you notice that while the above scripture describes a man (or woman) as falling he still has righteous attached to him name. Why is this? Though we are taught that all have fallen short of the glory of God; is there a difference between righteous people who sin and wicked people who sin? As I wrote the last sentence, I thought how it could sound like a major paradox or contradiction. I think people can make unintentional departures from the right way and still be righteous. Yet, other people live a lifestyle of sin and are blatantly ignoring the will of God. This is what I think is the difference between righteous people and wicked people.

The example of The Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan

Brother Farrakhan, to me, is a great example of a Muslim, because of his strong insistence that me must submit totally to ALLAH’s will, fear no one but ALLAH and his ability to be honest about his short comings. After the Nation of Islam “fell” in 1975, Brother Farrakhan said that he became “disillusioned” with religion and fell from his former resolve. After reflection on his life, the condition of our people and the teachings of his spiritual father, The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, Minister Farrakhan recovered from his “fall”

Concerning this The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, ALLAH’s messenger to us, reminds us

“So this is the thing that you must remember, that trials, sometimes, are so terrific that they will weaken the most strongest person sometimes.” (The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad 1964 Laborer meeting)

His example teaches me that the true strength of a person is not that you wont get knocked down from time to time, but can you get back up from a fall, make adjustment and go on to shine.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, I had a major fall in my spiritual life after 10 years of striving to be a good Muslim. Yet, after much reflection and the help of God, I am now returning to the path of God and am seeking to be qualified to be called by his name. The Bible teaches us: "All things works for the good of those who love the Lord." It is important when you are having a down moment to have the “right mental attitude”, which will determine your response to a down moment.

I want to encourage you to examine Minister Farrakhan and his example of being a servant of Almighty God.

Thank you for reading these few words!

The birth of the USA(United States of Africa)

By Brother Mustafaa Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful
(African sunset in Tanzania)

***
(This article was originally written during the summer of 2001 and is being reposted due to current events.)

A few days ago it was announced that 41 heads of state formed what is called "The African Union", an organization that is committed to creating a United States of Africa. This group now has before them the task of creating a common currency, national defense and creating unity among the different tribes.

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Messenger of Allah, taught us “History is best qualified to reward the researcher." Meaning if we want to understand the contemporary, we must look to the past examples. This great wisdom can help the new African Union and potential United States of Africa from falling victim to the mistakes of past history.

Examining history 1400 years ago, we find that there was a land that had fragmented tribes, who were probably one of the most disunited peoples of that time. History teaches us that the Arabs had a lot in common, but the differences of tribe affiliation kept them at odds.

Speaking on this Maulana Muhammad Ali, an Islamic Scholar says:

"There was no settled government, no law in the land, and might was practically right. The Arabs belonged to one race and spoke one language, yet they were the most disunited people. Tribe made war on tribe, and family on family, on the most trivial excuse. The strong among them trampled upon the rights of the weak, and the weak could not get their wrongs redressed."

Many came and tried to reform disunited Arabia but failed. Christian, Jewish and Humanitarian movements sprung up and tried to unite the people of Arabia under oneness in God, however these movements just didn't have what it took to transform the Dark land of Arabia.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught us that time brings about all changes and whenever there is a need for a change nature produces the man(or people) who will change the circumstances that need reform.

At last Almighty Allah, Subhana Wa’ Ta’ Ala’, raised up a man who was anointed with power to reform Arabia. This man is called Muhammad ibn Abdullah(PBUH). Allah revealed through Muhammad a book of revelation called "The Qur'an". This book, Qur'an, spoke a message that Arabia had never heard before and ultimately, over a 23 year period, it transformed them from the lowest level of existence to the highest level of human expression.

One of the messages revealed in the Holy Qur'an that led to the unification of man 1400 years ago was:

" O mankind, surely we have created you from a male and a female, and made you tribes and families that you may know each other. Surely the noblest of you with ALLAH is the most dutiful of you."(Sura 49:13)

The footnote of the above Sura(Chapter) gives us greater depth of this powerful verse:

"The principle of brotherhood of man laid down here is on the broadest basis. The address here is not to believers,as in the two previous verses but to men in general, who are told that they are all , as it were, members of one family, and their divisions into nations, tribes and families should not lead to estrangement from, but to a better knowledge of, each other. Superiority of one over another in this vast brotherhood does not depend on nationality, wealth, or rank, but on the careful observance of duty, or moral greatness."(footnote2331)

The unification of Africa will not be an easy job. They are dealing with centuries of Western colonialism, language differences, religious differences, tribal differences and different ideas about what's right or wrong for Africa. Add to that the deep rooted self hate, which was indoctrinated into us by White Supremacist education and philosophy. We have a lot to over come in the forming of this African union.

Oneness

The understanding of the Oneness of Allah and the Oneness of his people will be the key to overcoming the division within the African Union. We must go back to the root of all things. Before there was tribe, nationality, religion, philosophy, color differences, we were all one in the beginning from our Creator, who is one being. Allah says over and over in the Qur’an that he is one God. To prove the oneness of God, The Holy Qur’an shows us of examples in the law of nature, where there is unity of nature. Also, in the observance of the universe we find unity of the planets, each planet revolves in its own sphere around the sun. The whole of creation is given to us as a sign to study from the Lord of the Worlds, that oneness is the law.

The greatest teaching of the religion of Islam is the oneness of God and Humanity, under the will of God. The practice of True Islam will lead Africa to the unity that will accomplish the goal of creating a United States of Africa. Some may say, but there are other religions in Africa besides Islam and should we deny them expression? I say that Islam only means obedience to the will of ALLAH(God). Islam is a unifying religion that respects other people’s religious expressions. The true teachings of Jesus and Moses lead to the same truth "God is one and the people in God are one". I believe all the current religious expressions can exist in Africa as long as we understand that God is one God. There is not a different God for each people; ALLAH is the one Lord of all the worlds. Also, all the Prophets that we claim are one in their belief in God and the principles that they taught.

We should not let religion stop the unification of Africa. ALLAH says in the Bible:

"God is not the Author of confusion, but of peace." (Corinthians 14:33)

The Warning of The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

Minister Louis Farrakhan in a recent article from the Final Call titled "The Birth of a African Union" warns the Africans:

" The western media, so upset at the thought of an African Union, has not seen fit to make it news worthy to the nearly 200 million sons and daughters of Africa living in the Western hemisphere. This teaches us that the owners of the Western media, and, the powerful governments they represent, do not desire to see the success of the African Union. this is a great time of danger for the idea of African unity. Although it is an idea whose time has come, it can be no stronger than the will and determination of the African leaders to make it a reality. the best time to destroy any idea, plan or organization is in its infancy. So, The African Union is now in the time of its greatest danger. The western powers are sifting The African leaders to find those who still have selfish and vain ideas in their hearts and minds that they might be pulled away from the idea of The African Union."

"Jesus said to Peter, "The Devil desires you that he may sift you as wheat." The Western powers are sifting the African leaders for character flaws and weaknesses that might be exploited to weaken the idea, the effectiveness, and, even break the will of those who desire is to make the African Union a Success."

The potential of this new Nation

The potential of a United States of Africa is so great. The Black man and woman of Africa have the potential to be the leading voice for Freedom, Justice and Equality if they would accept the right guidance. ALLAH says in both Bible and Holy Qur’an that he "Makes all things new". I love my homeland Africa, but truth be known, Africa is in need of reform as we are in America. The same Devil that destroyed us in America imposed the same mental slavery tactics on our family in Africa.

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad in the Theology of time spoke on the need for Africa to accept new guidance:

"We love Africa, thats why we have our hands joined on the upper part of our paper. The is just what we want to do with Africa. We want to make Africa our brother, but Africa cannot lead us until they themselves have become perfectly civilized. What God has taught me is a perfect civilizing teaching. It is not something you could add to, and make it civilized-it's` perfect civilizing teaching to civilize any savage-regardless to where he comes from."(pg. 111)

Further he says:

"There are many fine scholars and scientist in Africa, but in all of their knowledge that they have, it is not from the right source, the white man has taught them. They have some of their ancient teachings, but now it must be replaced for the new wisdom, knowledge and understanding that is brought forth to liberate the blackman and woman all over Earth and that knowledge is here with me. I am not saying this to criticize anyone. I want to join hands with you and be your brother, but not with what England, the Dutch and those other slave making rascals gave you. They gave you their knowledge to enslave you like they did us here in America and Africa." (Pg 112)

If Africa were to combine the Divine guidance of Messenger Elijah Muhammad with the land resources they already possess, they could become the salt of the Earth again. Africa has the potential to become like the sun, which sits in the center, while all other planets revolve around. Africa can be that Light-Life and Power to the Whole Human Family of the planet Earth.

Once Africa gets herself together, she could then offer a helping hand to her Brothers and sisters in the West. We could in this new century help each other, we with the Divine guidance, and Africa with resources. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said there can be no justice in the World until the Blackman is raised. Because, we are the parents of the human family, we are the ones who give Salt-flavor to the Earth. Once we awaken and are put back in our proper place as the Ruler; Freedom, Justice and Equality will flow down the mountain like a mighty stream.

Answer to the critics

To the whites and Uncle Tom blacks who may offer criticism of this great step by our African brothers and sisters. Yes, there are many problems in Africa, yes Africa has division, yes Africa has tribal divisions, but all things have trouble in infancy so teaches the Messenger, The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad. You don't criticize a baby when it makes an attempt to walk and falls. You comfort him or her and encourage them to make another step to ultimately walking by themselves.

History teaches us that America herself didn't start out problem free. She has been involved in civil wars, internal conflict, doctrinal differences and a host of other problems. However, ultimately out of all the chaos came a measure of peace and a United States.

When we see the Baby(Africa) make steps and fall lets not be so quick to condemn her for trying to walk independently. I believe it is time for the rise of the Blackman and woman of America and the world to rise up and rule like we did originally in the beginning.

The worst is yet to come

By the Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad

According to radio and television; and according to individual conversation; and according to conversation heard between government officials concerning their problem of trying to find a way to peace for their people, and a way to find stoppage of the fall of their money market and unemployment; and a stoppage to the revolutions between the dissatisfied, and a way to be able to eat—and to keep the hungry eating from his own labor—pacification is offered but it does not satisfy.

With nations rejecting peace offers and nations laughing and making mock of you for ever seeking peace and friendship—as it is written, “Peace is desired more than fine gold!”

Now to see all of these things coming to pass—things that we did not know that we would see. We did not know that we would see such a Goliath —such a giant—falling.

Goliath! Who has defied the nations of the earth to come out and fight with them, as Goliath did before Israel. Now, nations make mock of the great giant of the earth, America.

The sword within and the sword without! Trouble seems to have no end. And with tens of millions of free Black slaves crying for freedom, justice and equality from the White slave-master; and the White slave-master wanting to deceive the Black slave and make promises that the White slave-master does not intend to fulfill to his free Black slave;

And with the free Black slave thinking that he will eat some crumbs of freedom, justice and equality from his White slave-master—the free Black slave will be gravely deceived!
The White slave-master cannot free himself from his enemies, not to think of the White slave-master freeing himself from the consequences of the dissatisfied world.

So, with “The Worst Yet To Come,” I say to you, my Black Brothers and my Black Sisters, fly to Allah; and come follow me! There are some intelligent White people who know and who will bear witness with me that the worst is yet to come!

Look at Texas! There is a warden at a certain prison-house who sends the Believers (Muslims) to the Temple so that they may listen to the truth, which is their salvation today; to accept the truth.

I think that this is a very wise warden. It is like Ahab’s general (Bible). The general knew that Ahab was wrong and that Elijah was right.

Ahab’s general took four hundred of Elijah’s followers and hid and fed them with the bread of Ahab in order to save them from hunger while they were in captivity to Ahab.

I say to you leaders, remember the above-said of this writing, that “The Worse Is Yet To Come!” As the Bible teaches us that “a time would come that had never come before,” and that those who understood—“their hearts would be failing them with fear and their eyes would go away in their holes” for looking at the things that they saw coming on their people—the trouble! the destruction! and the plagues!

Look at the earthquakes that are taking place. Those earthquakes are on their way here. We are feeling the earth shaking under our feet across the country!

As the Holy Qur’an prophesies to us, “you will hear it coming from distant places with vehement raging and roaring!”

America is best all around now with troubles and destructions, which have happened. America thought that she was immune to the troubles and destructions, which are going on in other nations.

Now the same trouble and destruction that you read of as happening in other countries and to other nations—these same troubles and destruction, with their evil and gruesome sound, are knocking on the door of America!

My walk with Farrakhan Pt. 7: He called us to obedeince to God

By
Brother Mustafaa Muhammad
In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

“And surely this your community is one community, and I am your Lord, so keep your duty to Me. But they became divided into sects, each party rejoicing in that which was with them. So leave them in their ignorance till a time.”(Holy Qur’an 23: 52-24)

One of the Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan’s greatest desires since 1977(31 years ago) is to see the unity of black Christian(other faiths too) and black people who claim the Islamic faith. The brother minister has specifically tried to show us the oneness and commonality of the faiths we claim. There has been a degree of misunderstanding with regards to Minister Farrakhan’s preaching in Churches and quoting the Bible. Some think The Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan is a confused Muslim when he says, “I am a Christian, as well as a Muslim.”

At the conclusion of the 7th article in the series, My walk with Farrakhan, it is hoped that my black Christian family may have a better understanding concerning the mission of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan.

Islam is submission to the will of God

The word Islam, due to the actions of some Muslims, has become associated with “terrorism” “fanaticism” “evil” “backwardness” and other bad connotations. Some find it hard to believe the root meaning of Islam is peace. The religion of Islam teaches us that there is only one God called ALLAH and that our life must be one of submission to his will for human beings. By our submitting to God’s will and following the five main principles of Islam, we begin to enter into peace with God, self and fellow human beings. Our religion can be discussed more specifically, but I wanted to give a brief overview of Islam for the purpose of the article.

The theme of One God runs through the Old Testament and the New Testament of the Bible. The Old Testament(Deut 6:4) teaches, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.” The New Testament(Mark 12:29) teaches: Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.”

The Holy Qur’an(2:136), scripture of Muslims, says the follow in support,

“Say: We believe in Allah and(in) that which has been revealed to us, and (in) that which was revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and (in) that which was given to Moses and Jesus, and (in) that which was given to the prophets from their Lord, we do not make any distinction between any of them and to Him do we submit.”

From the oneness of ALLAH(God) we are now being introduced to the oneness of the prophetic community. We are taught in Islam that all of the prophets taught the same basic message. That one message is obedience to God’s will. Also, each prophet taught the principles of prayer, charity, faith, family life, being kind to neighbors and fasting. The Holy Prophet Muhammad(Peace be upon him) taught us 126, 000 prophets have been raised among humanity in different times and none of them disagreed. Why didn’t they disagree? They were raised up by God in different times, different societal circumstances yet they preached God is One.

The Holy Qur’an(5:44-48) appeals to the Jews and Christians to not be divided by the revelation of the Qur’an,

“Surely We revealed the Torah, having guidance and light. By it did the prophets who submitted themselves(to Allah) judge for the Jews, and the rabbis and the doctors of law, because they were required to guard the Book of Allah, and they were witnesses thereof. So fear not the people and fear Me, and take not a small price for My messages. And whoever judges not by what Allah hasrevealed, those are the disbelievers.”

And further The Qur’an says,

“And We sent after them in their footsteps Jesus, son of Mary, verifying that which was before him of the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel containing guidance and light, and verifying that which was before it of the Torah, and a guidance and an admonition for the dutiful. And let the People of the Gospel judge by that which Allah has revealed in it. And whoever judges not by what Allah has revealed, those are the transgressors.”

Finally speaking of the unity within the prophetic community, The Qur’an says,

“And We have revealed to thee the Book with the truth, verifying that which is before it of the Book and a guardian over it, so judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their low desires, (turning away) from the truth that has come to thee. For everyoneof you We appointed a law and a way. And if Allah had pleased He would have made you a single people, but that He might try you in what He gave you. So vie one with another in virtuous deeds. To Allah you will all return, so He will inform you of that wherein you differed. [Note: The book mentioned being revealed is the Qur’an.]

I pray that my effort in these quotes will be understood. I am trying to create a context which to understand the ministry of Minister Farrakhan and his efforts to unite both Muslim and Christian.

Why Jesus must be understood

At this time the die hard black Christian may say, ‘Yeah all that sounds good, but you must come by my Jesus to be saved.’ Or ‘Jesus is the only way to salvation, my friend.’

I will say in defense, we must have greater understanding. The Bible teaches us,

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)

There is a difference between what Jesus(peace be upon him) taught and what Christianity teaches. Also, our present understanding of God, Jesus and Christianity came via our former slave masters and their children.

Jesus taught that God(his father) was One. However, Christianity teaches a trinity of God’s. Jesus taught of the supremacy of his father, God, over him. However, Christianity made Jesus equal with God and a God himself. Jesus said, ‘I come not to change the law or the prophets, but to fulfill.’ However, Christianity teaches that all the former prophets were sinners and in certain respects the former books are devalued.

What has been accepted as the teachings of Jesus(Christianity) are actually the interpretations of his teachings according to men. These interpretations were formulated and passed via vote at the Nicene council in 325 A.D.

According to Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia,

“The First Council of Nicaea, held in Nicaea in Bithynia (present-day İznik in Turkey), convoked by the Roman Emperor Constantine I in 325, was the first Ecumenical council of the Christian Church, and most significantly resulted in the first uniform Christian doctrine, called the Nicene Creed…… The purpose of the council was to resolve disagreements in the Church of Alexandria over the nature of Jesus in relationship to the Father; in particular, whether Jesus was of the same substance as God the Father or merely of similar substance. St. Alexander of Alexandria and Athanasius took the first position; the popular presbyter Arius, from whom the term Arian controversy comes, took the second. The council decided against the Arians overwhelmingly (of the estimated 250-318 attendees, all but 2 voted against Arius). Another result of the council was an agreement on when to celebrate the Resurrection, the most important feast of the ecclesiastical calendar…… The Council of Nicaea was historically significant because it was the first effort to attain consensus in the church through an assembly representing all of Christendom. "It was the first occasion for the development of technical Christology."

Let me stop and say this. I am in no way trying to weaken the faith of any true Christian nor am I trying to “diss” Jesus(Peace be upon him). I will add that what is called Orthodox Islam or Sunni Islam is an interpretation of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad(Peace be upon him) and a perversion of what the man originally taught. I wanted to clear that up, so I wont lose my Christian family and abort our coming to greater understanding.

According to both the Bible and the Qur’an Jesus is given special mention as a servant of Almighty God. We are taught that he prayed, gave charity, spoke the truth and fasted. We are told that he believed in and represented one God to his followers and the general public. We don’t find in Jesus’ own words any support for the doctrines that his name have been put on.

All Muslims, regardless to sect, are taught to love, honor and revere Jesus as an honored servant of Almighty God. We do not pray to Jesus or worship him in any way, shape or form. We find great inspiration in his stand for what is right during his time on Earth.

My black Christian family must not worship Jesus, but rather follow Jesus and submit to the will of the Father, Almighty God. Remember, the slave master didn’t introduce us to Jesus to make us better human beings, but to make us better slaves for them.

Can Muslims and Christians unite?

The Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan made a call for 1 million men to show up in Washington D.C. for the purpose of atonement and reconciliation with God and each other. The amazing thing is the majority of those who came identified themselves as Christians. On that day, Muslims and Christians prayed together, laughed together, ate together and prayed together in the oneness of Almighty God. The message of Minister Farrakhan on that day was go back to whatever house of worship you are in and make it better, more responsive to the needs of the community.

Minister Farrakhan commonly goes into churches to help clarify our misunderstanding of Jesus and to help foster unity between us by focusing on the principle of obedience to God. He teaches us that a true Muslim is a Christian and a true Christian is a Muslim. How can this be? The followers of Muhammad are seeking oneness with God by submitting to his will and following his servant, Muhammad. The followers of Jesus are seeking oneness with God by submitting to his will and following his servant, Jesus. Therefore, if both are seeking the way to God, but through different men, why shouldn’t we work to understand each other and love one another.

There are too many Churches, Mosques and other places of worship in the black community, yet our neighborhoods reflect a hellish condition instead of Godliness. In the word community we find unity and in the word unity we find the meaning one. There is One God and one prophetic community, so let us not be divided in these perilous times.

In my walk with Min. Farrakhan he has taught me to love all of my black brothers and sisters whether they prescribe to my beliefs or not. He has given me a ecumenical understanding of God and his word which allows me to interact and work with my Christian brothers and sisters in harmony.

Repetition is a great teacher, so I will close this article with the Quranic verse I opened it with.

“And surely this your community is one community, and I am your Lord, so keep your duty to Me. But they became divided into sects, each party rejoicing in that which was with them. So leave them in their ignorance till a time.”(Holy Qur’an 23: 52-24)

The black community is in need of Godly black men and women who are willing to struggle the way the prophets did to make a better reality for our elders, children and women. We don’t have to stop being who/what we are to recognize a brother or sister who believes in Jesus, Muhammad or both.

Thank you for reading these few words!
