Can Muslims and Christians unite today?

By

Brother Mustafaa Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

(part 1 of a 2 part series)

I am writing this article to pose the following question: is it possible for Muslims and Christians to unite? When I say unite, I am not saying that each side has to totally agree with the other or that differences have to be minimized. Civilized people are able to agree to disagree without being disagreeable.

Some will automatically-emphatically say, no, in regards to the question posed by this writing. Disunity seems to be the order of the day among the human family. If we are in politics we are divided among groups of Democrats, Republicans, Independents or other parties. If we are Christians we are divided as Baptists, AME, Holiness, Pentecostal and other denominations. If we are Muslims we are divided amongst Sunni, Shitte, Nation of Islam and other sects and parties. We are also divided among racial, economic, social and gender lines.

These aforementioned divisions give context to the particular subject I wish to speak of in this writing. We will explore scriptural and historical references to discover if it is possible or even realistic for Muslims with their differences to unite with Christians and their differences.

Oneness

What is the basis upon which this unity can be achieved? The Holy Qur'an, The scripture for Muslims, asks all the question, "Who created the heavens and earth?" It answers it own question by saying, "The One God Created the heavens and Earth." We are taught in mathematics to solve a fraction you must goto the common denominator. There are billions of believers in God worldwide who if asked will bear witness that God is one. The Old Testament(Deut 6:4) teaches, Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.” 2000 years later the New Testament(Mark 12:29) teaches: Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.”

The Holy Qur’an(2:136), the scripture of Muslims, says the following in support, “Say: We believe in Allah and(in) that which has been revealed to us, and (in) that which was revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and (in) that which was given to Moses and Jesus, and (in) that which was given to the prophets from their Lord, we do not make any distinction between any of them and to Him do we submit.”

From the oneness of Almighty God we are now being introduced to the oneness of the prophetic community. We are taught in Islam that all of the prophets brought the same basic message. That one message is obedience to God’s will. Also, each prophet taught the principles of prayer, charity, faith, family life, being kind to neighbors and fasting. The Holy Prophet Muhammad(Peace be upon him) taught us 124, 000 prophets have been raised among humanity in different times and none of them disagreed. Why didn’t they disagree? They were raised up by God in different times, different societal circumstances, yet they preached the unity of God.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan teaches us that we should not judge a person's religion by what they say, but rather by what they do. He further teaches us that we must not allow the label of our religious affiliation keep us from connecting to our brothers and sisters. I am reminded of two examples he often uses to make this point about religious unity. He says when a wino really wants to get drunk he doesn't concern himself with the label on the bottle as long as the contents can give him the intoxicating feeling he seeks.

Secondly, he uses mathematics to help us understand how we are saying the same thing in essence. He teaches that if your mother taught you 4+4=8 and another person's mother taught them 12-4=8 this could cause an argument if we came together to explain our method to solve the problem. Our ancient ancestors taught for every physical reality there is a spiritual reality. Therefore, Muslims have a method of connecting with the One true living God and Christians have a method of uniting with the one true living God, however we are arguing about the means to reach the end. Remember that as it is in mathematics, so it is in the spiritual realm.

The book of Ephesians 4:5 teaches that there is, "One Lord, One faith and One baptism."

Historical references towards unity

Over 1400 years ago when Islam was being re-established in the so-called Middle East, we find one of the greatest examples of Muslim-Christian cooperation in ancient times.

When Muhammad of 1400 years ago began teaching his message to his fellow countrymen and that message began to gain acceptance those same countrymen began persecution of him and his followers. The persecution reached such extreme proportions that Muhammad considered sending his followers away to save them from further violence. Where did he decide to send them? He told his followers to emigrate to Africa, Ethiopia to be specific, where the Christian king makes sure no one is wronged. The Muslims found shelter and love with their Christian host until it was safe to return home. Therefore, this historical reference teaches us that Muslims owe gratitude to their Christian brothers and sisters who helped them at a time when they couldn't help themselves.

The greatest example of operational unity between Muslim and Christian brethren in modern times was seen in the Million Man March called by a Muslim, The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, yet was attended by 3/4ths who identified themselves as Christian. Minister Farrakhan placed a Christian brother as director over the march to demonstrate his desire for unity. The message of this "march" was one of putting God first, self love, self help and unity in the black community. When the minister spoke he didn't ask his Christian brothers to join him in being a Muslim. Rather he encouraged all to return to their place of preference(Mosque, Church, Naacp, SCLC etc...) and take the principles of the Million Man March wherever you go.

I decided to join him as a Muslim, however I grew up in the black church and continue to cherish and hold that experience dear to my heart.

In conclusion, we have seen from a principle standpoint and a historical standpoint that yes Muslims and Christians can unite. However, if they will in 2009 is another thing.

This discussion will be continued, God willing, in part 2 of this subject matter.

Review of message: The crucifixion of Michael Jackson and all responsible black leadership

(Photo used courtesy of The Final Call)

By
Brother Mustafaa Muhammad

Today I tuned in via internet to hear what was billed as a revealing of truth regarding the late Michael Jackson. The message lived up to the billing as The Hon. Louis Farrakhan gave a wide ranging message dealing with topics from theology, black history, scripture and of course the life and death of Michael Jackson.

I was not able to attend my regular Sunday meeting at Muhammad study group of Pensacola, which is the local branch of The Nation of Islam. Therefore, I was able to use modern technology to bring the message of Minister Farrakhan into the home on my MacBook via webcast. Me and my invited guests tuned in at 10p.m. to hear this powerful representation of the truth from The Minister.

The Minister invited the press to hear this timely message, because as one of the presenters facetiously said, "They always get the story right."

Prior to Minister Farrakhan mounting the rostrum there was a beautiful medley of Michael Jackson best songs by the Muslim sisters of Mosque Maryam, the flagship Mosque of the Nation of Islam.

The Minister began with an exegesis of theology as it pertains to black people. He revealed that we(black people) are the particular people whom God came to save, who in turn would become saviors of the world. He reminded us that as Jesus began his message narrowly only to "The lost sheep in the house of Israel" so was The Nation of Islam focused solely on a message to the black man. However, at this time we must grow into a greater consciousness, because The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, his teacher, told him, "black is not national, but universal."

He then went into the history of government action against black men and black movements that they deemed threats to their interest of keeping black people in a subjugated state. He particularly mentioned the trials of Nat Turner, Marcus Garvey, W.E.B. Dubois, Paul Robeson, Martin Luther King, Malcom X and The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, leader of the Nation of Islam. He mentioned all of these things to set a context which to discuss the life and death of Michael Jackson.

In his powerful conclusion, he spoke of several memories of being with Michael Jackson. He revealed that Michael Jackson wanted to sing his hit song "Man in the mirror" at the Million Man March, but was persuaded otherwise by someone. However, Michael Jackson donated 100,000 dollars to the Million Man March, the minister said. He further said despite Michael Jackson on the outside going from black skin to white skin; inwardly he was traveling from white consciousness to an black consciousness, which made him want to do for his people. He then spoke of the universal appeal of Michael Jackson and Barack Obama in attracting all races, colors and people of the world as a sign of our ultimate mission.

One of the most powerful moments for me came when the minister quoted Michael Jackson words in his song "They don't care about us" which showed the growing awareness of the musician . He also quoted the words of Michael's address to Oxford, which dispelled the oft repeated media story that Michael Jackson hated his father-Joe Jackson.

The Minister covered all the above and more in his 3 hour plus long address which was broadcast live to America and the world via webcast. I would advise you to order this message and listen to it and you will not be disappointed. You can order your copy online here

The more things change... the more they stay the same

by
Brother Mustafaa Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

This has been an amazing year(2009) thus far to say the least. We have seen great highs(election of President Obama) to great sadness(the passing of Michael Jackson) to more discrimination against black people within America. It is for the last reason that I am writing this article. Since the winning of the election by President Obama and his inauguration January of this year, we have seen an steady pattern of increased hatred towards President Obama and the same towards black people in America. This is exactly what The Hon. Louis Farrakhan told us might happen during his November 9th 2008 speech titled: America's new beginning: President Elect Barack Obama . He said,

"What a trial for America today, but in this equation is a young man with a Black father and a White mother. Who, in his DNA, all he’s thinking about is how to bring Black and White people together with mutual respect. What a trial for America, because Barack Obama is bringing out the best in White people. And unfortunately, he’s also bringing out the worst. You listen to some talk shows—there are people outright talking about killing the brother.... your joy is somebody else’s sadness. And in your moment of revelry, there are those who will be so angry they can’t get to him—but they can get to you. So my counsel to you would be... rejoice intelligently."

There is a mind set in America which is reinforced by the educational, religious and social system to look down on black people as though we are less. This mind set causes some to still look down upon black people though we rise to high levels in politics, education, business, sports and other endeavors. This mind set is white supremacy and black inferiority, which is quite distinct from racism in and of itself. Racism is the dislike of one race by another. This is a personal choice and doesn't become totally evil unless the racist acts on their hatred and discriminate against another. However, when we say white supremacy we are speaking of a system set up via education, religion, politics, economics, social to keep Europeans dominant over darker people of the earth.

Therefore, some Caucasians may not be the extreme version of racism such as the KKK, skin heads and Neo Nazis, yet they can still be perpetuating white supremacy. White supremacy can be seen in the eurocentric manner which history has been presented to the world as though black people are secondary actors in history. White supremacy is seen in religion with European figures presented as Saviors. The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad and The Hon. Louis Farrakhan have worked to destroy this thinking in the human family of the earth. For their efforts they have been accused of being racist and participating in racism. I have been accused as they have for being a student and follower. Their work is not against any individual white man, woman, boy or girl, but rather against a wicked mind state that is not in harmony with God's will.

This year America has done something which many thought we wouldn't see in our lifetime by electing it's first black president. In many ways this shows growth on the part of the country, yet despite such success there are several high profile incidents of race hatred against blacks. As the following incidents show the mind(white supremacy) which gives rise to racism and race hatred has to be defeated for freedom, justice and equality to be shared amongst the human family.

The recent arrest of scholar and professor Henry(skip) Louis Gates shows that no black man despite his status(whether a brother on the street corner or a well known professor) can escape harassment and intimidation by police officers. It is a well known fact that black and hispanic men are disapropiately arrested by police officers. I do not believe this kind of situation would have happened with any of America's top white scholars. The officer refuses to apologize or see anything wrong with his actions.

More than 60 children from the Creative steps day camp were denied access to the pool facilities, because it was feared they would, "Change the complexion … and the atmosphere of the club." The children reported that one white lady said, "Uh, what are all these black kids doing here?" The hypocrisy in the matter is that the Caucasians there are allegedly Democrats and voted for Barack Obama.

I went to see the new Transformers 2: Revenge of the fallen last weekend. I was amazed and saddened with the obvious stereotyping seen in the above two robots from the film. The robot on the left pictured above has a gold tooth and both speak in obvious "street language". One robot claimed he can't/doesn't read much. They were both seen arguing and fighting throughout the movie. You might ask why is this a problem... it's just a humorous moment in the movie? The problem is these images reinforce the public perception that black men are thugs, ignorant, uneducated, argumentative and buffoons. It is obvious what was being said by this characterization and many have already spoken out against it.

A police officer, Omar Edwards, was killed by fellow officers while off duty in plain clothes. It is debated what role race played in fellow officers killing a blackman whom they automatically assumed was a threat when he was pursuing a suspect while in plain clothes. There have been some many cases of black officers being killed by fellow white officers even after identifying themselves as police members.

There is a dispute in the Nation of Iran regarding the recent re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The government of America has an history of meddling in the affairs of foreign governments she doesn't agree with. Even President Obama admitted to the American involvement in the overthrow of the democratically elected leader of Iran, Mohammed Mosaddeq, back in 1953. Now the media is drumming up accusations against the president of Iran in an attempt to vilify him and justify action against his regime. I guess they forgot about our own disputed elections in 2000 and 2004. There is dissatisfaction in the masses of people in every nation on the planet including this one. It is not Americas business to police the world when we have more than enough domestic issues to deal with. To his credit President Obama has wisely refused to get involved with another nation's internal affairs.

The election of President Obama has brought out the hatred in the hearts of many against the idea of a black man occupying the highest office in the land. Conservative radio hosts and television anchors routinely use subtle code words to display their hatred for the president of the United States. Rush Limbaugh even went as far as saying he hopes Obama fails.

(A derogatory message about Obama posted in the stall of a restroom in Orlando. I am sure a black person didn't write this.)

There are even more unreported incidents of violence and discriminatory acts against black people due to the historic election.

I close with words of warning and guidance from The Hon. Louis Farrakhan concerning the change the new president can bring.

"If Congress tries to hamstring him because of his vision for change, and if the Whites in America don’t understand that Barack Obama is mercy, not only for us, but for them and for their children, and for their children’s children; and if we hurt this young man and keep him from doing what is in his heart to do, then... we will bring on ourselves a chastisement from God the like of which has never been seen before in any nation that God has chastised... Don’t harm this young man."(America's new beginning: President elect Barack Obama 11-9-2009)

To improve the community you must improve yourself

by
Brother Mustafaa Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

My ultimate hope is that this article series will inspire you to re-examine The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, the teachings of The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad and find your own unique Godly greatness

I heard Minister Farrakhan once say during a 1994 speech titled “The crucifixion of Jesus and the imprisonment of Minister Farrakhan” that his only job is “To connect you to God and then God will lead you.”  This directly correlates with the bible teachings in Psalm 23:1 which reads,

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want

As we can see Minister Farrakhan is not interested in setting up a cult of personality worshipers, but rather true men and women who will be connected to and guided by God directly. He constantly reminds us he is a human being and will leave the earth as all flesh and blood humans must, but The Almighty God is eternal and ever-living.

The Hon. Louis Farrakhan is travelling on this road and he asks all of us to join him in this sacred pilgrimage to meet with God. As I mentioned a couple of articles ago, you would do a great disservice to yourself to limit the Minister to just being a spokesperson for the hurt and suffering of black people in America and the world. We, must recognize his desire to see a spiritual awakening in us and the world.

In accordance with the Hon. Louis Farrakhan’s desire to see a spiritual awakening in us, he developed an entire course of study revolving around the self -examination, self- analysis and correction of things in us which inhibit out total development into Godliness. This course of study is called Self improvement: The basis for community development and it currently consists of 21 units of study from various topics like overcoming difficulty, finding balance and centering our self with The God.

In presenting this course of study The Hon. Louis Farrakhan wrote a letter of introduction for the new student. He spoke of his ideas and goals for the course of study,

This letter is to introduce you to the new study guide material. These study and training units are based upon a speech which I delivered September 21, 1986 in Phoenix, Arizona.

This speech, in my judgment, formally ushers in that which is the launching pad of a worldwide movement.

Each study session is designed on the guidance of Allah to produce: self-examination; self-analysis; self-correction; and, to quicken in each of us, the self-accusing spirit. For, it is only when we are awakened morally that we have to face the self-accusing spirit which leads to our resurrection…

Resurrection is that process that begins with the self-accusing spirit and does not end until we become one in perfect harmony or peace with Allah and His Creation.

If you will notice, this inner voice does the work of a Messenger of Allah (God). Would you knowingly kill one of Allah's (God's) prophets or messengers? What would be the punishment if you did?

Everytime we act to still the voice of correction, coming from within ourselves, we are in fact murdering the Messenger of Allah (God). The result is spiritual blindness, leading to spiritual death, leading ultimately to an untimely physical death.

If we desire to stay alive spiritually, we must never still the voice of Allah (God) within. We must protect it, for in our moral awakening, it is the best friend that we have; for it is Allah (God) working on the inside of us…

The more we feed on truth and right guidance from Allah (God) the stronger the voice becomes. That inner voice is like a seed which can ultimately grow into its perfected state, to be the Mind of God Himself in you.  "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus..."
PHILIPPIANS 2:5”

Each student, after studying the principle under analysis, must then analyze self and critique self. The study sessions, while leading the student to self-examination, first; self-analysis, second; self-correction, third; must simultaneously be therapeutic. Therefore, these sessions must be twofold. consisting of both theory and practice. The practice will refine the theory.

Further in the actual base of the course Minister Farrakhan explains why self-improvement is important to self, family, community and nation.

“I have chose for my subject: "SELF-IMPROVEMENT: THE BASIS FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT." Now, there are many, many developers who buy land and develop that land into communities, towns and cities; placing on this land magnificent structures costing hundreds of millions, even billions of dollars.

This activity of land development is going on in Phoenix and in cities around the country, and, indeed, around the Earth. However, to those who spend those hundreds of millions and billions of dollars building structures: unless we build people; unless the human potential of people is developed; then man, in his underdeveloped state, will ultimately destroy the cities that he has built because of revolution and war.

So, the Scripture is right in teaching, 'What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?' What would it profit us to build magnificent structures, beautiful buildings, magnificent bridges, built with magnificent technology and the soul of those human beings are wretched and deprived and underdeveloped and rotting from within? How does one lose one's soul? What is so important about the soul, or the essence of our being, that if we lose it, we lose everything?

This is why I have chosen the subject, "SELF-IMPROVEMENT: THE BASIS FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT." Because it is the improvement of each of us as human beings that is lacking in the world, and because instead of human beings improving, they are degenerating. Then there is no hope for the nations, for they are all on a path of self-destruction.”

The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad asked the question, how strong is the foundation: Can we survive, during his Saviour’s Day 1968 speech?  The foundation is of course our connection to Almighty God and the study guides of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan will help us strengthen this foundation.

Thank you for reading these few words.

Today can be the greatest day of your life

by
Brother Mustafaa Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

Today is like no other day and it can be the best day of your life, if you choose. One of the great powers of the human being is ability to program your life and determine what your reality will be. What I am speaking about is what some call “Mental Laws”. The mind is a very interesting tool created by the Creator. It is divided into three realms Conscious, subconscious and Super(God) Conscious. The subconscious is the realm that will determine where you go. This portion of your mind doesn’t judge incoming info as right or wrong it accepts all as fact. This is why it is important how you talk to yourself. If you keep saying negative things to yourself(ex. I am stupid, I am never going to succeed) your subconscious accepts this as a reality and the rest of your life can unfold from this negative state of mind.

Well today is a different day. Today is going to be the best day of your life. Why do I say this? I don’t even know you. Today will be the best day of your life when you wake up and determine and say to yourself today is the best day. You may say,
"but I can’t control what others do to me or unexpected-uncontrollable situations." True! However, you have the power to determine how you will respond to any/all negative situations. When negativity comes into your presence you can decide to rise above this or let it drag you down into the doldrums of despair, despondency and defeat.

But, today is different; you are going to determine a better day for yourself. When you wake up the next morning try saying to yourself “Today is a great day for achieving my goals” “Today is a great day free of stress, lack and hopelessness”. By doing this you are creating within yourself an enthusiastic mind state which allows you to have some pep in your step and slide in your glide.

Enthusiasm according to wikipedia is defined as

“Enthusiasm (Greek: enthousiasmos) originally meant inspiration or possession by a divine afflatus or by the presence of a God. Today it simply means intense enjoymentinterest or approval

Never ever wake up with an attitude saying to yourself
“O well here goes another day” or” I have to go to this old job” or any other negative idea. One of the mental laws states what you think upon grows. Stated another way whatever you think about constantly becomes your reality. Jesus said by your faith(belief) you are healed. Have you ever met those people who seem to just have a great day attitude; have a glow about them? Well today you will be seen as a magnetic, glowing, positively moving person.

Some tips for achieving the greatest day of your life by yours truly

#1 When you first wake up give praise and thanks to the Creator in whatever manner you are used to. Be thankful for another day to live and make advances. Even if you woke up in a cardboard box be thankful because with the gift of life and controlling our thoughts we can change any negative situation.

#2 Talk positive to yourself. Say it loud:
“Today is going to be the greatest day of my life”

#3 Visualize how you want your day to be. Create a visual check list of the things you must accomplish today.

# 4 Read some scripture(Bible, Qur’an, Torah etc..) or something which speaks to our higher spiritual self.

#5 Create positive affirmations for you to say to yourself through out the day. Examples
“I am free and happy” “All praise are due to ALLAH” or “With God all things are possible” “I refuse to submit to unworthy thoughts, plans or actions”

Have a great day! You will only if you decide to.

What would your perfect life look like?

By
Brother Mustafaa Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

If you could have things you own way in regards to your personal life, what would such an life look like? I want you to stop and think, without limits, of what an ideal life would be for yourself. It can be anything and doesn't necessarily have to be about money although that would not be an bad vison of your ideal life. Would having a loving caring family be your ideal life, being financially free or working to to make your community/world a better place be the perfect life and make you totally happy?

I woke up this morning very early at 4:44am with this powerful question on my mind. I asked myself the following questions which are applicable to all.

#1 What is holding us back from living the life we want? What do we personally need to do to create such a life.

#2 What do you want your life to have stood for once you are no longer here?

#3 Are you happy in your career, just working to pay bills or do you desire a new career?

#4 What can you do right now to start moving towards your ideal life?

Islam: The call to peace in the midst of hell

by

Brother Mustafaa Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

Islam, the most vilified-misunderstood religion in the world today, is a way of life revolving around 5 principles that create a positive state of being in the believer who practices. Depending on whom you speak with you will come away with opinions as varied as the distance East is from the West. On one hand the practitioners of the faith say it is of peace, the others who misunderstand or who are outright hostile to the faith will say it is evil, violent and of the devil himself.

Islam in it's principle of essence is about the making of peace in the individual, family, community and nation by teaching obedience to Almighty God ALLAH, who is the only one worthy of worship and praise. Islam in english translation from Arabic only means submission/obedience to the will of the Supreme Being and a Muslim is one who has entered into peace by such submission. This principle(submission) has been taught by all the prophets according to both the Bible and Holy Qur'an and is seen in nature, animals and the universe as the natural order of things.

Today the world in which we live, as it goes through a wobble, is creating hellish conditions for many members of the human family. The current recession(or depression depending on whom you speak with) is the proverbial spark that has started the fire. We hear daily of  many people losing their homes, cars, jobs, health care and their ability to take care of family and children. This reality creates stress and ultimately desperation.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, who was taught by the Messenger-The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, is calling black people and through us all of humanity to the principle of obedience to the will of God. He teaches that you can be obedient to the will of God whether you follow Moses, Jesus, Muhammad(of 1400 years ago or the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad(The Muhammad of today). Therefore, when we were at the Million Man March in 1995 he told us to take the principle of that day back to the Naacp, Sclc, Church, Mosque or wherever we meet .

The question may be asked, how is Islam as a faith or principle of action a source of peace in the midst of hellish conditions?

I once read in a book titled "How to stop worrying and start living" by Dale Canegie of the author's awe at the Muslin preservation despite reverses, defeats and loss. He inquired why did they have such calm during such troubles and was told by one of the believers that we put our trust in ALLAH and accept his will. It is Faith and faith alone that is our greatest currency in this falling world. The Bible says, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things hoped for." and "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can remove mountains."  When you are in the midst of your worse trial, your darkest moment, faith will be the light to carry you on through the darkness back into light.

To grown in faith and to sustain a faithful attitude, we are taught in Islam the importance of praying five times daily. Some have said that praying 5 times daily is too much. However, I have found that it only takes 25 minutes to do all five prayers daily which leaves 23 hours and 35 minutes left in your day. Almighty God gives us so much and only asks for little in return. This prayer is not for the glory of God only, but is like water which allows vegetation to grow. Likewise, prayer is the means by which our faith will grow stronger and stronger in our Lord.

Lastly, we are taught in the Holy Qur'an of the power in remembering Almighty God in our hearts and minds. Jesus taught as a person think so are they. It is common knowledge that our thoughts have the power to change us individually and our circumstances for the good or bad. The Holy Qur'an says the following in support: "Those who believe and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah. Now surely in Allah’s remembrance do hearts find rest." The prayer that we give must create such God consciousness that we remember him all day-everyday and lean on him and trust in him to get us through it all.

So, in closing true Islam as opposed to ritualistic interpretation of the religion is a call to peace in the midst of hell. If we follow the three principles that Islam teaches it will create a life of peace and contentment in God. The three principles are faith, prayer and remembering Almighty God, whom the Muslims refer to as ALLAH.

Opening our hearts to become functionaries of God and truth

By

Brother Mustafaa Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad preached that he was taught by God in the person of Master Fard Muhammad. Many of our traditional Muslim family have misunderstood what this "in the person of" means. Master Fard Muhammad, we are taught, studied for 42 years, developed himself and prayed.

This teaches us that as a certain point he was dependant upon a higher power at that stage in his life.

He was a man born, February 26th 1877, into a world that had already been created and under the laws established by the Creator(Originator). What this means is he submitted himself totally to the will of he who created the heavens and earth and due to the quality of his submission the Supreme being came in his person.

In this instance Almighty God was the teacher and The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad was the student of God.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad in a chapter(The will of ALLAH is being done) from the book Our Saviour Has arrived speaks on his submission to his teacher and the results:

"When a person gets righteous, God accepts him as His FRIEND. Then the will of each other is with each is with each other. What one wills, the other wills. It is the will of both...The Messenger’s will is in accord with the Will of Allah. The Messenger cannot will something opposed to Allah. Allah has taken over the Messenger’s heart, mind, and brain and Allah is making them to react according to His Will!"

This is accord with what Prophet Muhammad(Peace be upon him) stated in Hadith Qudsi:

"That when Allah loves a person and a person gets righteous he(ALLAH) becomes the eyes with which they see, the mouth with which they speak, the hands with which they hold, the ears with which they hear."

Jesus(Peace be upon him) similarly spoke of the close relationship between him and his father, God, by saying, "I and my father are one." This only means unity of purpose and unity in will.

Now when we look at The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, who is a student of The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, who are we looking at?

I am here to say that The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, the Messenger-Messiah, has come in the person of Minister Farrakhan. Minister Farrakhan has totally submitted his mind and essence to his teacher where the will of his teacher is being personified in himself. This makes The Hon. Louis Farrakhan a divine leader, teacher and guide and an embodiment of The power of God and his Messiah.

We as students of Minister Farrakhan have the opportunity to open our hearts and minds to allow him to come in our person and become functionaries of the power that he represents in his person.(Read full article here)
