What has Islam done for the black community?

By
Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In The Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

(Islam is producing love & brotherhood between Black men)

While out recently distributing the Final Call Newspaper, I was asked by one of our black brothers: "What has Islam done for the black community?" I acknowledged his question as a good one and proceeded to answer it calmly.

First, I explained to the brother that what we, members of The Nation of Islam, practice and believe in is not to be confused with Arab oriented Islam as seen in the Middle East. I further explained that we are the original people of this planet Earth and are direct descendants of the Creator himself. So, we have always acknowledged The One God and worked to develop a relationship with him.

In the past 6000 years of the rule of Satan Prophets(Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, etc) were raised at different times to teach fallen man the way back to God. After the Prophet's passing the people named their religious system after that Prophet in honor as in the case of Christianity(named after Christ), Judaism(Named after Judah a descendant of Abraham) and Buddhism(Named after the Buddah).

Therefore, this has given the impressions that there are many different religions when in reality the prophets taught the same principles and oneness of God.

So, When we look at Islam it is not a "new"religion, but only a continuation of the same message that was taught through all the prophets down to our times through The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad and The Hon. Louis Farrakhan.

After explaining this, I told this brother that Islam, as taught by The Hon. Elijah Muhammad, has been instrumental in turning around the lives of countless black men and women from some of the worse backgrounds into upstanding human beings. I told him Islam has produced a "new" black man that is able to go into the community and just by his presence alone cause dope dealers, pimps and other elements to stop their destructive practices. I told him that black women who used to live low lives have been lifted to a new level of civilization and modesty.

The Hon. Elijah Muhammad in his light giving book, Message To The Back Man, gives 7 reasons why he stresses Islam for his people.

"Why do I stress the religion of Islam for my people, the so-called American Negroes.

First, and most important, Islam is actually our religion by nature. It is the religion of Allah (God), not a European organized white man’s religion.

Second, it is the original, the only religion of Allah (God) and His prophets. It is the only religion that will save the lives of my people and give them divine protection against our enemies.

Third, it dignifies the black man and gives us the desire to be clean internally and externally and for the first time to have a sense of dignity.

Fourth, it removes fear and makes one fearless. It educates us to the knowledge of God and the devil, which is so necessary for my people.

Fifth, it makes us to know and love one another as never before.

Sixth, it destroys superstition and removes the veil of falsehood. It heals both physical and spiritual ills by teaching what to eat, when to eat, what to think, and how to act.

Seventh, it is the only religion that has the divine power to unite us and save us from the destruction of the War of Armageddon, which is now. It is also the only religion in which the believer is really divinely protected. It is the only religion that will survive the Great Holy war, or the final war between Allah (God) and the devil."

God's Messenger works speak for and prove his claim of being divinely guided

Lastly, I told him of my story and transformation by the teachings of Islam, the divine teachings of The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad and example of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan.

What does As-Salaam Alaikum mean?

By
Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In The Name Of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

I am dedicating this brief posting to educating my black brothers and sisters to take one more step in understanding Islam, Muslims and themselves.

While out this week with The Final Call Newspaper I encountered the usual rebuttals: "Yall don't love Jesus" "You do not believe in Jesus" "I don't mess with that Islam stuff" and on and on the objections went. This has been the everyday reality of my life since becoming a Muslim believer 14 years ago, so it is no problem and I am much more patient to explain.

We have been programed to reject Islam, which actually is our nature and original religion, by the Eurocentric education which continually demonizes Muslims. And then there is the false idea that Arabs with a turban on are the "REAL" owners of Islam.

Islam as taught by The Holy Qur'an and the Prophets is a natural way of life which revolves around submission to the will of God and following the righteous principles of Faith, Prayer, Charity, Fasting and struggle to overcome difficulties.

We are the original people of the Earth and Islam, as it is called in modern times, is the system we found our strength from. Of course, among different languages and different Prophets it may not have been called Islam from the Arabic tongue, but you will find the prophets and holy books all taught the same eternal principles.

One of the principles of Islam teaches us to want for your brother/sister what you want for yourself. In accordance with this principle, when we meet our fellow Muslim we always say, "As-Salaam Alaikum!" Where we are greeted in return, "Wa'Laikum Salaam!" The first phrase means May peace be with you and the latter phrase means May peace be returned to you. This is also a short prayer asking for peace and blessing to descend upon your brother/sister in whatever circumstances they may be in. This is not nothing strange as Jesus(Peace be upon him) always met his disciples with Peace or Shalom.

Peace is the life of righteous people and is what we are promised by submitting our will to Almighty God. Inner happiness(peace) is a priceless commodity in a falling world as we find ourselves in. There are many people who you would think are totally happy, because they possess material things... however the one thing they really long for is simply peace.

Peace is described as the absence of Chaos. Peace to me is having a loving family, financial security, fulfilling your purpose for being, exploiting your God given talents, living in peaceful surroundings and having a personal relationship with The Creator. The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, The Messenger-Messiah, said when you can't wish peace upon another your mind is not right. This teaches us that you cannot give(peace) to others what you have not developed(peace) yourself.

As I leave you encouraging you to find your peace and then share that peace with the world by working to end the world of chaos and building a new reality based on Peace, Freedom, Justice and Equality.

I leave in the greeting words of peace

As-Salaam Alaikum!

Thank you for reading these few words

The Inprisonment Of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan By The Media

by
Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

Many times The Hon. Louis Farrakhan has stated that he considers the treatment he has received by the media as being placed in a prison. He clarifies that he is not speaking of steel bars, but rather an incarceration by public opinion. The minister has been charged with many negative labels including anti Semite, racist and anti-white. Therefore, the masses of people have distanced themselves from him due to the negative association they believe he will bring.

As a person who has received tremendous  benefit by being a student and follower of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, I am here to bear witness to his righteous character and help him to be released from this prison of public opinion by telling what he did for me.

His followers and many in general society who see his value have used the honorary title Honorable when addressing Louis Farrakhan. Therefore, we who use such a distinction have a more positive view of this human being, his mission and ministry than the mainstream society, and you know who that is.

How is Honorable defined?

According to the online dictionary resource Merrian Webster:

1) Deserving of honor

2) Attesting to credible conduct: consistent with untarnished reputation.

3) Characterized by integrity: guided by a high sense of honor or duty.
"

When you say Honorable this is usually used to distinguish a judge or other governmental officers. A judge can be referred to as your honor, for example.

So, taking into account that The Honorable Louis Farrakhan has a 55 year track record of service to the black community, in particular, and the whole of humanity, we are justified in addressing such a man as Honorable by transformation he has caused among countless men and women.

At this time I would like to point out the things I personally know of him which makes me call

1) The Biblical book of John 1:1 as found in the New Testament states: "In the beginning was the word and the word became flesh..." The Honorable Louis Farrakhan has consistently delivered the word of God as revealed in modern times throughout America and the world.

2) After the demise of the black organization, The Nation of Islam, he began in the late 70's the work of rebuilding this "black empire" which has given hope and instruction to millions. In addition, he made available again the teachings of The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as contained in his 5 major written books.

3) On Oct 16th 1995 he called for and nearly 2 million black men met him in Washington to seek Atonement, Reconciliation and Responsibility.

4) He has worked tirelessly to tear down the superficial barriers that keep Muslim brothers and sisters and Christian brothers and sisters from uniting and loving one another.

5) He has mediated the feuds between rappers in the hip hop community particularly after the deaths of the Notorious Big and Tupac Shakur, both young men who were gunned down in their primes.

6) The minister has taken the theme and message of atonement and reconciliation across the globe teaching all human beings the path back to God and brotherly love for one another.

7) He self published [in 1979] The Final Call Newspaper, which would go on to become the #1 black published and independently distributed newspaper.

8) Finally and most important, I consider the Honorable Louis Farrakhan a Noble Honorable man, because of the effect his ministry and personal example has had on my life. I used to live a low life, but by his word I began to lift myself to a higher level of civilization and I sought the unity of God by building a personal relationship. He also taught me to take the message to others, so I am in the community telling others what he can do for them if they will only listen.

Thank you for reading these few words.

by
Brother Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

 "Final Call my brother/sister?"

While driving down the street or even right at your front door you might have had the experience of seeing one of the men of The Nation Of Islam with their famous Final Call Newspaper. We as FOI, that's Fruit of Islam for those who don't know, are required to take up this task of delivering the word of God as contained in The Final Call to our people. We are functioning as little Saviors or Messengers when we perform this noble task of uplifting a fallen humanity.

Even in the hot of the summer you still will find the brothers handling their business with delivering this mighty word. I am often asked why in coldness of winter or the heat of the summer I would be out with a newspaper? Well briefly The Final Call is not just a newspaper in the like of other daily or community papers. The Final Call in it's essence carries the word of God as revealed in modern times to The Messenger of ALLAH, The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad and is being continued by The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, who is The Messenger of The Messenger of ALLAH.

So, when you know that the paper is a life saving tool and you love your people you become energized to take this truth to the highways and byways regardless to the cost or any discomfort you may personally incur.

Next time you see a brother out with the paper don't feel sorry for him, but rather support him with your dollar and then go home and read the #1 paper in the world, The Final Call Newspaper.

The Continued Growth Of Louis Farrakhan And Yourself

By
Brother Mustafaa Muhammad

In The Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

I am writing this post as part of my continued mission to
encourage others to learn of the great man of God, The Hon.
Louis Farrakhan. This misunderstood human being has been
clouded by those who know better with labels, which turns
others away without investigating the matter for themselves.
Today this attitude must change, through investigation of
the man and what he represents, because this man is too
important to be overlooked.

I am speaking to the broad spectrum of humanity when I
speak of viewing The Hon. Louis Farrakhan properly. I write
so passionate about this subject, because this man
represents salvation to humanity to grow into their divine
greatness.

While participating in a interview 3-10-2002 on the show
Historically Speaking w/ Munir Muhammad of CROE, the minister gave insight into the
word respect from it's root understanding. He gave the host
and the world the meaning of the word respect, which means:
Looking back and to return. I did my own research after
hearing his words to verify it's accuracy for other who
might not be convinced.

According to Dictionary.com respect also means

"c.1300, from L. respectus "in regard to," lit. "an act of
looking back at a thing," pp. of respicere "take look back
at, regard with reference to, consider," from re-"back" +
specere "look at a person"

The above definition of the word respect was used by the
minister to make his point towards an individual who had
been critical of him. He then showed us that while life is
still going on a persons' full story is not yet known. We
can be up one day and then down another day, which is the
everyday reality of humanity. This is why it would be wise
to continue to "look at" a person again. This isn't a bad
piece of advice to follow ourselves as our individual story
is also being written. The whole human family is on a
journey which is like a yo yo in regards to the ups an
downs. So, we say in the church. "The God is not finished
with my life yet."

As I finish this article, the principle we just explored
can be applied To The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, a man who is
still on the journey of life. By doing basic research on him
you will find many people saying many things in regard to
his life and character. But, I would advise you to listen to
him directly to get the most accurate view of the man and
what he represents. He has a 50 plus year record of teaching
the word of God and working to restore the most lost among
humanity. There is a wide variety of recorded material he
has produced on various topics related to life. So, a person
who wanted to know of him has plenty of material to
research.

The Minister, in conjunction, with his brother, friend and
fellow helper in the cause, Jabril Muhammad, delivered to
the world the definitive resource book for those looking to
learn of him, his true position, teachings and mission. This
book was titled: Closing The Gap. He refutes all false
charges that he has been accused of in this book and teaches
on so many subjects, which are beneficial to all. This book
is the best source to learn of this man and what he
represents.
