Unleash More Blessings In Your Life By Being Grateful

By
Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In The Name Of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

It has been often stated if you are thankful for the small things you will be blessed with more while if the mind is focused on lack you will never have enough.
These principles remind us of the importance of gratitude. Gratitude is simply being thankful... it is a spirit of being appreciative.

The Holy Qur'an, scripture for Muslims, teaches us that ALLAH hates ingratitude.

"If you are ungrateful, then surely Allah is above need of you. And He likes not ungratefulness in His servants. And if you are grateful, He likes it for you." HQ 39:7

There are many at this moment who might feel they have lost everything and have nothing to be grateful for. I do not intend to minimize the reality of any person's suffering, however just the fact that you are alive is a blessing within itself. With the gift of LIFE, VISION, GOALS and ACTION we can meet and overcome any/all obstacles in our paths.

We often pray to Almighty God, our Creator, when we are down, in trouble or need a blessing or two.

However, I want to encourage you to do something radically different today. I want you to think of FIVE things you are grateful for and prayerfully thank The God for whatever blessings you are grateful for. They can be as simple as being thankful for your job to bigger blessings like health, family, friends etc.

Now think of 5 things and start praying... He's waiting to hear from you.

1) I am thankful for...?
2) I am thankful for...?
3) I am thankful for...?
4) I am thankful for...?
5) I am thankful for...?

Thank You for reading these few words

Towards a greater communication

by
Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In The Name Of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful
Just a few hours ago I was forced to confront a situation with a person near and dear to my heart due to a misunderstanding with communication. This close person and I had a previous discussion which ended on a sour note due to a perception of what I was saying as opposed to what I actually was saying.

I didn't like the way things ended, so I took up the challenge to contact this loved one and attempt to dialogue on what went wrong. The person expressed their interpretation of what I said and I reiterated that my intentions were not malicious in what I stated. Through this honest dialogue a relationship was salvaged and we are now able to be friendly again.

Proper communication is very important. Most creatures have a method and way of communicating, however the human being, who is the glory of God, has the ability to express the highest form of dialogue. As I mentioned "Proper communication" is important so is the ability to receive a message important. Hearing is a physiological act of sound entering the ear while listening is a intellectual act involving the mind, reasoning and critical thinking.

As students of The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad under the leadership of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan we are taught the importance of proper dialogue. We are taught the highest form of dialogue is the divine speech of God expressed between fellow brothers and sisters. We are further taught to think 5x before we speak. This allows us to refine our idea and think how it will affect the other person.

10 years ago I was introduced to a little book titled "How To Win Friends And Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. This book in conjunction with The teachings of The Hon. Elijah Muhammad has made me a student of the science of interpersonal skills. I have read this book over and over often focusing on areas that I need assistance.

As I close, I would like to present the fundamentals of Mr. Carnigie's teachings to help improve our dialogue among our friends, family, colleagues, children and others.
  1. Don't criticize, condemn or complain.
  2. Give honest and sincere appreciation.
  3. Arouse in the other person an eager want.

So Much To Do

By
Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

Greetings to all, those I know and those I do not have the pleasure of knowing yet.

I like so many struggle to find balance to accomplish the many many tasks placed on our shoulders daily/weekly. From being parents, spouses, employees, small business owners, employers, congregants and a hosts of other hats we wear... we often find ourselves unable to be ALL things to all people and situations.

I recently am finding myself in such a situation. I have been aware that I haven't updated my blog in quite a while, ok over a week, which is not the posting frequency I desire to achieve on this information medium. I have found myself overwhelmed with so many tasks and new opportunities, which is a wonderful thing and nothing I complain about.

I wrote about time management in another posting and I think it is worth revisiting this subject. As I mentioned if we look at the 168 hours given weekly we may find more available time than we thought... time that could be used to accomplish one more task daily or weekly. We have to create weekly goals and write up a time schedule to avoid being overwhelmed by the seemingly unending tasks coming our way.

I will stop writing at this time and will be taking a dose of my own advice by drawing up a new time schedule/goal setting for the coming week.

Best wishes for your success the coming week... Be blessed, Free from stress and Be victories in your individual endeavors.

Thank you for reading these few words.

Another Justifiable Homicide?

A few months ago, I wrote a story concerning the death of a young man, Victor Steen, in my city of Pensacola, Fl. Well now the case against the officer has gone forward and unsurprisingly the judge found no grounds to charge the officer in the death of this young man.

As black people in America we know this scenario all too well from our sojourn in this land. Even with overwhelming evidence[video footage] in the case of police brutality against Rodney King the officers were found not guilty and in response the so-called riots ensued.

The Honorable Louis Farrakhan and his teacher The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad have said that the mentality of those officers are the same as in the times of slavery and in their mind it is justifiable homicide, because they have not seen any value in black life.

This murder of black, brown and others by professionals who are supposed to "serve and protect" is bringing God's justice upon the United States of America. When the justice system fails to secure results then God will show his power through the forces of nature to bring man to naught.

"Whoever kills a person, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he had killed all men. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved the lives of all men" Holy Qur'an 5:32

You can read the story as reported in the Pensacola News Journal here

168 hours... what will you do with them?

by
Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In The Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

In the recent lecture series by The Hon. Louis Farrakhan entitled "The Time And What Must Be Done" our attention is brought to the importance of time. In this society some equate time with money, therefore our time is a valuable resource. The thing with time is once it is spent it can never be recaptured, so we must be very careful that we do not misuse or waste our valuable time.

At the beginning of each week we are given a full new set of 168 hours for that week, which consists of 7 - 24 hour days. With this much time it is hard to accept the excuse, "I do not have time." We have nothing but time, yet without proper planning and goals to accomplish life can speed right on by without our conscious awareness. For example, we have heard one comment, "I can't believe I have been out of school for 10 years... where did the time go." or "It seems my children just grew up right before my eyes." Time moves quickly and waits for no one.

What I want us to do this week and going forward is to be more cognizant of our time and what we do with it. Remember you have 168 hours each week to accomplish whatever you choose. If time is money why do we waste ours on non beneficial things, events, people?

What will follow is a simple breakdown(of my schedule) that I like to show which explains how the time just get's away as we say.

Top of the week we get 168 hours

168 hours/Week
-40 hours week/ Maybe if we work a normal job
-20 hours week/community work
-35 hours week/sleep
-6 hours week/Religious worship-fellowship
-30 hours week/ running my business

Even with this basic schedule I still have 37 hours left in the week to do many other things. Of course, your weekly reality will be different especially if you have children/family. But, this is just to acquaint us with the reality that we have more time during the week than we might think.

In conclusion, this week let us all use our time more wisely and productively. See for yourself  how much of 168 hours do you use a week and how much you have left. The answer might surprise you.
