Falling From Grace And Recovering From a Fall in Our Life

We all can fall short of the glory of God, but he offers a way to return to glory

  by
Brother Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In the Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

I like to describe my faith walk with God as being a journey. I have been on this journey for 14 years and will be on it for the rest of my life.

I want you to think about something related to a journey. Imagine if you lived in Pensacola, Florida and you decided to travel to Chicago one day. You would find yourself traveling up I-65 N for a long period of time. Let’s also say this is your first time traveling to the destination, so you are checking your map closely trying to stay on course. Yet, you made a mistake and took a wrong exit, therefore ended up in Kentucky. What fool would sit on the side of the road, give up and never try to make adjustments (checking the map) to get back on the interstate towards your destination. Likewise, in our journey to godliness we may find ourselves making some wrong exists Ex. drugs, alcohol, adultery, lying, stealing etc…

However, we don’t have to stay on these wrong exists. As one would get back on the interstate to continue traveling to a city, we should, if a wrong exit was taken, get back of the path to continue our journey to God.

The Bible perfectly illustrates this point in the following words

“For a righteous man falleth seven times, and riseth up again; But the wicked are overthrown by calamity. Proverbs 24:16

The Hon. Elijah Muhammad, the man God raised for our salvation, teaches us that God is willing and able to forgive us as long as we continue to believe

‎"You must remember... that the Holy Qur' an teaches you and me that those who are sevants of Allah, "If the devil causes a foot to slip of my servants, do not dispair, for Allah forgives sin altogether. Know that Allah is merciful. Know that Allah will forgive the believers." This means that all believers in the Messenger if he errors or sins, so long as he is a believer he is forgiven."(The Hon Elijah Muhammad-Letter to son Wallace D. Muhammad)

The example of The Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan

Brother Farrakhan, to me, is a great example of a Muslim, because of his strong insistence that me must submit totally to ALLAH’s will, fear no one but ALLAH and his ability to be honest about his short comings. After the Nation of Islam “fell” in 1975, Brother Farrakhan said that he became “disillusioned” with religion and fell from his former resolve. After reflection on his life, the condition of our people and the teachings of his spiritual father, The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, Minister Farrakhan recovered from his “fall”

Concerning this The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, ALLAH’s messenger to us, reminds us

“So this is the thing that you must remember, that trials, sometimes, are so terrific that they will weaken the most strongest person sometimes.” (The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad 1964 Laborer meeting)

"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting  up every time we do." Confucius

His example teaches me that the true strength of a person is not that you wont get knocked down from time to time, but can you get back up from a fall, make adjustment and go on to shine.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, I had a major fall in my spiritual life after 10 years of striving to be a good Muslim. Yet, after much reflection and the help of God, I am now returning to the path of God and am seeking to be qualified to be called by his name. The Bible teaches us: "All things works for the good of those who love the Lord." It is important when you are having a down moment to have the right mental attitude, which will determine your response to a down moment.

I want to encourage you to examine Minister Farrakhan and his example of being a servant of Almighty God.

Thank you for reading these few words!

What If Death Certificate Era Ice Cube Could Meet The Ice Cube Of Today?

The Groundbreaking Album By Ice Cube And A Lyrical Dose Of Black Consciousness
by
Brother Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In The Name Of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

Death Certificate by Brother Ice Cube was one of the most lyrically potent albums in the career of Cube and one of the strongest  advocates of Black Power musically. It was a album which carried the philosophy of The Nation Of Islam, The Hon. Elijah Muhammad and The Hon. Louis Farrakhan with it's songs like "Color Blind" "Be True To The Game" "I Wanna Kill Sam" and "Death On Arrival". The album even featured strong spoken word segments by then NOI minister Dr. Khalid Abdul Muhammad.

Personally, this album was one of the factors that led to me accepting Islam and raising my awareness.

In the years since there have been changes to Brother Ice Cube's output and there is ambiguity regarding what he presently stands for.

But what I would like to explore in this article is "What If The Death Certificate Era Ice Cube Could Meet/Speak With The Ice Cube Of Today". I'm talking about the old school Ice Cube, the self proclaimed "Nigga Ya Love To Hate", The Ice Cube who condemned the "Horny Little Devil" and "Cave Bitch", The Ice Cube who said inside the pamphlet to the Death Certificate album "The best place for a young black male or female is the Nation of Islam."

However, In recent years Brother Ice Cube has become more famously known for his Hollywood movies like Players Club, Friday, Are We There Yet and now Lottery Ticket. Many of these movies have been quite enjoyable, however as a man who publicly bore witness to the knowledge of self and the teachings of The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad the promotion of these images in film, which portray us in the roles of buffoons, thugs, drug addicts and promiscuous, is disappointing.

Be True To The Game

"When you first start rhyming
It started off slow and then you start climbing
But it wasn't fast enough I guess
So you gave your other style a test
... Now look at yourself, boy you done flip-flopped" Ice Cube/Be True To The Game-Death Certificate

Ice Cube was once known for his strong pro-black, pro Nation of Islam rhetoric in his albums. It was normal to hear excerpts of speeches The Hon. Louis Farrakhan or Khalid Abdul Muhammad throughout the album. Right after the time of his 4th album[Lethal Injection] there was an obvious shift in the focus of Brother Ice Cube. This was seen in his promotion of the St. Ides Malt Liquor via commercials, his gangsta posturing in the later group West Side Connection and the movies Friday and Players Club.

This is not what our community needs with as much trouble being out of our mind causes

Ironically, MC Hammer was one of the targets of Ice Cube during the Death Certificate era for accusation of selling out and going mainstream.

In this image from Be True To The Game video Ice Cube takes a swipe at MC Hammer

By the time we got to his 5th album[War and Peace Vol 1] the gangsta persona[Don Mega] had took over replacing the previous balance of street tales with black consciousness. To his credit Brother Ice Cube returned to much of his form albumwise with his last album, Raw Footage.

Hollywood Movies and Our Images In Film

 "Stop selling out your race
And wipe that stupid-ass smile off your face
Niggas always gotta show they teeth
" Ice Cube/Be True To The Game-Death Certificate

I just saw this past weekend the newly released movie by Ice Cube Lottery Ticket staring Bow Wow and others. I didn't go into the movie expecting much more than seeing black people portrayed as big fools. And as expected we were portrayed as drug users, baby mamas, thugs, pimps, sissies, criminals and so on. And they even threw in a Muslim joke about beans pies and bow ties for comedic purposes.

If you can look past the overall buffoonery there was a message about community, responsibility and a ending that talked about doing for self. However, the audience, comprised of black, white and others, I watched it with were obviously not paying attention to those messages and were falling over at the silly acting black people.

Am I saying that black people don't like to have a good time, laugh, dance and even cut a fool sometimes? No! But, these types of movies are played all over the world and they concertize the current view that we are silly people and not focused on serious matters.

The image of blacks as clowns

In conclusion, as we can see the Death Certificate era Ice Cube would probably take strong offense to the Ice Cube of today. If you read this Brother Cube don't doubt for one moment if I have love for you. You were the man who entertained me and taught me at the same time. I still play those early albums when I want to hear thought provoking music. You inspired me to come closer to Islam. But, as you said so powerfully, "Now I'm a be brief
Be true to the game
"

Now What You Gotta Say About Anti-Semitism... What About Being Anti-Black?

By
Brother Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In The Name Of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

"For twenty-five of the thirty-three years of my rebuilding of the Nation of Islam, I and we, in the Nation of Islam have suffered under the charge of “anti-Semitism” because I have dared to be critical of what I and many others feel is Jewish behavior that has ill-affected Black people and others." The Hon. Louis Farrakhan letter to Abram Foxman and other Jewish organizations

This is the time of vindication. For 33 years The Hon. Louis Farrakhan and by extension we, his followers, have been accused of anti-semtic and anti-Jewish behavior. However, outside of expressing our perspective of things there is no record of us denying a Jewish person a job, killing any Jewish person, burning a Synagogue, desecrating any symbol of Jewish pride or anything of the like.

It is interesting that two stories, as reported below, suggest anti-black behavior by persons of Jewish background. We are quick to be called anti-semitic for speaking the truth, but where is Mr. Abraham Foxman and others of so-called good will to condemn anti-black actions by members of their own group?

I now ask Mr. Foxman will you Condemn, Repudiate and Reject the behavior of members of your own kith and kin? Will you and others of your group continue to hide behind claims of being the chosen people of God? Will you continue to hide your misdeeds by accusing The Hon. Louis Farrakhan of being an anti-Semite? Will you respond intelligently to the claims, by your own scholars, as presented in two volumes of The Secret Relationship Between Black And Jews?

Below are two stories, as mentioned in the media, of persons of Jewish background targeting black people.

Elias Abuelazam

"In the U.S., Abuelazam is suspected in 14 attacks in and around Flint, three attacks in Virginia and one in Ohio. The victims were men aged 15 to 67. Most were black, but investigators don't know whether race was a motive." (Read Full Story Here)

Dr. Laura Schlessinge

Is She Anti-Black For Her Views As We Are Accused Of Being Anti-Semitic?

"Only black people are told that the they are too sensitive about the N-word. Only black people are asked to forget the past. Only black people are asked to “get over” the atrocities they’ve suffered.

But no one, and I mean absolutely no one, tells Jews they are too sensitive about the horrors of the Holocaust. No one is allowed to call Jews names or dishonor them publicly without a ferocious rebuke. No one tells Jews to forget. No one."(Read Full Story Here)

A Few Quotes On Dealing With Adversity, Trial and Hardship

Jesus said if we have faith the size of a mustard seed we can remove mountains

"There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time." Malcolm X

“So this is the thing that you must remember, that trials, sometimes, are so terrific that they will weaken the most strongest person sometimes.” (The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad 1964 Laborer meeting

"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting  up every time we do." Confucius

"If you break your neck, if you have nothing to eat, if your house is on fire, then you got a problem. Everything else is inconvenience." Robert Fulghum

"Turn your wounds into wisdom." Oprah Winfrey

"It is written in the Holy Qur'an, which is the Book of Scripture for the Muslims, that Allah created man to face difficulties. God has brought us all onto the Earth to face one difficulty after another and it is the facing of these difficulties and the overcoming of these difficulties that helps us to improve our character and improve ourselves." The Hon. Louis Farrakhan

"But, how many of us turn our backs on difficulties? Whenever the difficulty comes, we turn away from it; try to find an easy road out of a difficult situation. I am talking to all of us. How many of you, when a difficult situation arises in your life, summon the strength of your being to stand resolutely and firmly in the face of that difficulty to overcome it? Or, do you turn away?

Brothers and Sisters, each time we turn away from the struggle to overcome difficulty, there then is deterioration of character and there is destruction of the Will --- and the Will that is within you is God's gift. It is His Essence that He gives to man and anything that deteriorates your Will destroys your ability to cope with the problems of life. Struggle is ordained." The Hon. Louis Farrakhan

Ramadan 2010 Toolkit For Success

Ramadan Mubarak means: Have a blessed Ramadan
By
Brother Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In The Name Of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

Ramadan is a special time of year for Muslim brothers and sisters world wide. Ramadan is the annual month of fasting in thanksgiving to Almighty ALLAH for the gift of divine revelation, as well as other blessings bestowed.

While it is a month set aside for fasting, prayer and daily reading of The Holy Qur'an, Ramadan is quite a festive period as Muslims break fast(Iftar) with delicious meals while congregating with family, friends and/or the Muslim community.

The goal is at the end of the 30 days for the believer to be a renewed person.

I have practiced Ramadan for 14 years now and each year has been a transformative experience and reaffirming of my faith.

At this time I would like to share a few things to enrich your Ramadan

Fasting Aid and Detoxing

For many the idea of giving up food for a set amount of time can seem torturous. The first few days of starting the fast can be a challenge, however your body becomes used to the discipline and it become a breeze. One thing that helps with fasting is a special tea designed for fasting. This tea can be consumed in the morning prior to fasting for a boost and at night after fasting... it works in harmony with your fast to detox your body.

You can find this tea at your local health food store.

Daily Quranic Reading

The Holy Qur'an is the main course when it comes to our spiritual diet during the month of Ramadan. The Hon. Elijah Muhammad said regarding the holy book "If you want to talk to Allah read the Qur'an".

The Holy Qur' an is mathematically broken down where it can be read in equal sections over the thirty day period of Ramadan. These 30 sections are called a "Juz". Next the Juz is broken down into two sections called Hizb, which means group. What I like to do is read part 1(Hizb) of the Juz in the morning and part 2(hizb) of the Juz in the evening.

For example today's Juz is the Al-Fatihah and Sura 2:1-141... Part 1 reading would consist of Al-Fatihah to 2:74 and Part 2 reading would consist of 2:74 to 2:141. You can read the entire Juz in one setting or breakdown over two readings in Hizb.

With most modern cell phones you can pull up the Maulana Muhammad Ali Qur'an via the internet and read some of the daily Quranic reading while on break, lunch or any other standstill in time.

I also like to read something on the life history of Prophet Muhammad(saw). As followers of The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad under the leadership of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, the knowledge of what was will give us greater insight on today as we attempt to build a Nation of Islam. We should additionally continue our reading of the latest expression of divine revelation in the teachings of The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad.

Tarawih Prayer
As Muslims we already lead a prayer centered life by weaving 5 daily prayers throughout the course of our activities. However, during the month of Ramadan there are additional prayers performed at night, preferably in congregation, that net us greater blessing, spiritual advancement and Prophet Muhammad(saw) said all our previous sins can be erased.

There is confusion among the traditional Muslim scholars on what number of Rakahs are to be performed in Tarawih whether 11, 20 or 8. The Masjid where I was taught practiced performing a minimum 8 Rakahs. The number is up to you since we can never get enough prayer.  These prayers are to said after the completion of Isha prayer in sets of 2 Rakahs.

****
Remember the month of  Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food, but we should try to abstain from all things that restrict our growth into oneness with God. Also, we increase our doing of good deeds and service to humanity during this month.

May this month of Ramadan be a blessing for all believers and may we become the believers that will be pleasing in the sight of ALLAH Subhana Wa' Ta' Ala.

The Mind Of The White Man And The Mind Of His Negro Offspring

By
Brother Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In The Name of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

"Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2

Since the election of President Obama many right wing-conservatives have gone to the extreme to prove that black people are the modern day racists who are denying white people rights, taking benefits from them and discriminating against Caucasians. It has been suggested by some that the President is secretly giving reparations to black people in the form of welfare and unemployment. The Tea Party has risen in response to the election of America's 1st black president with the mission of 'taking back their country'. Others say Obama is not a real American.

The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, as his teacher before him, has been accused of being a racist in general and anti-Semitic in particular since his rise to rebuild the Nation of Islam.

White flesh in and of itself has never done us wrong, white flesh in and of itself hasn't caused world wars, white flesh in and of itself didn't enslave a whole people and inflict genocide on the Native Americans. However, the mind that resides in the white flesh has caused Caucasians to create SLAVERY, SUFFERING and DEATH among the human family of the earth. Is this racist talk? No! Just check the history written by themselves.

Minister Malcolm X differentiates between the white flesh and the attitude driving the flesh
***
" It was when I first began to perceive that "white man," as commonly used, means complexion only secondarily; primarily it described attitudes and actions. In America,"white man" meant specific attitudes and actions toward the black man, and toward all other non-white men."

The mind of the white man has been one filled with the idea of having a superior history, culture, religion, philosophy, civilization and God. It is this mind set that caused them to label the Indians as "infidels" and slaughtered them while claiming to be good Christians. This kind of thought caused white people who claim to be Jews to create the "Hamitic Curse" which portrayed us as being cursed black and later gave justification to the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, where it is estimated 100 million black lives were lost in the middle passage alone.
Picture showing blacks stacked and packed in a slave ship

The mind of the white man will not allow him to rest comfortably while a black man is in "their" White House. This is the root of why they say "We must get our country back."

The Hon. Elijah Muhammad, The Messenger-Messiah, taught that the white man is under the judgment of ALLAH Subhana Wa' Ta' Ala' for the historical crimes he has committed to darker people all over the earth. It is not that he is white which brings his doom, but the fact he allowed his whiteness to create the mind he is superior and all other non whites are inferior.

Through the ministry of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, who represents the Christ, the Caucasians could be spared the doom of this world by changing their mind/heart and doing justice by those they have deprived.

They will also have to help the man of God in our midst today, Farrakhan, clean up and reform the black people of America. We are the people of God... the real children of Israel written in the scripture. In the beginning God said "Let us make a man", yet the white man turned that around and said "Let us make a Nigger". And this they have done by robbing us of the knowledge of Self and God.

It is the Nigger mind that causes black people to hate one another, reject uniting with each other, black on black crime, male-female relationship problems and other deviant behavior. We have personified hatred the white man has for us and we do his job of destruction while he lays down resting.

The Hon. Elijah Muhammad is the Divine man with the power to transform lives

The Nation of Islam has a 80 year track record of going after those whom society deems lost and with the divine wisdom of The Hon. Elijah Muhammad lives are transformed. The record speaks for itself, so black people help yourself by examining the message of Messenger Elijah Muhammad as taught by The Hon. Louis Farrakhan. White man help yourself by helping The Hon. Louis Farrakhan to uplift this fallen black humanity to receive the mercy of God.

August 10 2010: Where we are going this week

"The ability to transform is illustrated in the life of the butterfly"

Greetings to readers of My Walk With Farrakhan and visitors alike. I am hoping that this week for all of us will be one of PEACE, GROWTH and PRODUCTIVITY. It is said that life is what you make it... so let us make the very best of this upcoming week to achieve our goals, start on unfulfilled goals and draw up some new goals to accomplish.

This week I want the theme at this blog to be "Self Improvement". My teacher, The Hon. Louis Farrakhan, teaches us Self Improvement Is The Basis For Community Development. Therefore, the key to achieving a better world, community, family etc. starts with you and I as individuals becoming better. As the caterpillar disappears in a cocoon only to reemerge as a beautiful butterfly the same is possible in our lives.

This week, I would like to begin as a regular feature of this blog to add interviews which I will conduct with various people covering a broad range of topics. Be on the look out for these special insights coming.

Peace be with you!

Brother Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

The Divine Mission Of The Hon. Louis Farrakhan To Grow Us Into Divinity

By
Brother Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad

In The Name Of ALLAH, The Beneficent, The Merciful

I heard Minister Farrakhan once say during a 1994 speech titled “The crucifixion of Jesus and the imprisonment of Minister Farrakhan” that his only job is “To connect you to God and then God will lead you.”  This directly correlates with the Bible teachings in Psalm 23:1 which reads,

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want

The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad, the Messenger-Messiah in our times, similarly says,

“My main mission and work, put upon me by Allah (God), in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad, to Whom Praise is due forever, is to put you on the right path so you may go for self under the guidance of Almighty God Allah in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad.”(Our Saviour has arrived Chapter 23)

As we can see Minister Farrakhan is not interested in setting up a cult of personality worshipers, but rather true men and women who will be connected to and guided by God directly. He constantly reminds us he is a human being and will leave the earth as all flesh and blood humans must, but The Almighty God is eternal and ever-living.

According to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an there are three stages we must travel to reach our highest human development. The three stages are Ammarah, Lawamma and Muta’Innah and I will briefly speak on them at this time.

The Ammarah stage of development is the lowest stage of development and is compared to the animalistic stage. At this stage we are concerned with fulfilling our basic duties of eating, sleeping and procreating. This stage is also one where emotion and/or ego rule instead of reason.

Lawamma- This stage represents the human being travelling (transition) on a journey to divine. It is a state of awakening consciousness. The human being recognizes that they do not want to exist as a slave to their flesh, but still sees the road to complete harmony as long, but capable goal to reach.

Muta’Innah- We have travelled from Animal to human to coming into the presence of the divine when we reach this final stage. This stage is reached when we are in total oneness with the Almighty God ALLAH and are under his shepherd ship.

The Holy Qur’an illustrates this state of unity with God in the following words

“O soul that art at rest, Return to thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing, So enter among My servants, And enter My Garden!” (HQ 89:27-30)

The Hon. Louis Farrakhan is travelling on this road and he asks all of us to join him in this sacred pilgrimage to meet with God. As I mentioned a couple of articles ago, you would do a great disservice to yourself to limit the Minister to just being a spokesperson for the hurt and suffering of black people in America and the world. We, must recognize his desire to see a spiritual awakening in us and the world.

In accordance with the Hon. Louis Farrakhan’s desire to see a spiritual awakening in us, he developed an entire course of study revolving around the self -examination, self- analysis and correction of things in us which inhibit out total development into Godliness.

This course of study is called Self improvement: The basis for community development and it currently consists of 20 units of study from various topics like overcoming difficulty, finding balance and centering our self with Almighty ALLAH.

Why I thank Allah and We thank Allah for The Hon. Elijah Muhammad

(The following quotes are all from the message "The Black Woman" delivered by The Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan on January 1971)

"The brother HAS TO BE REFORMED. The sister HAS TO BE REFORMED. Muhammad takes the Black Man and reforms him. I don't mean to say that we are perfect. We are not perfect brothers. We are just your brothers who came out of the same mud yesterday that you may be in today. We are not better than you are-- we are just trying to clean ourselves up. That's all "

‎"Don't be hooked on a cigarette; don't be hooked on whiskey; don't be hooked on drugs; don't be hooked on sport and play. It's easy to pop your finger but if it's NATIONTIME we have to start building brother You cannot be sitting around just enjoying yourself. It is good to enjoy yourself, but there is too much enjoyme...nt of self and too little preparation of self, right?"

‎"Muhammad tries to make us prepare ourselves, and we are trying to do just that. We are trying to fill our heads with knowledge; we are trying to make ourselves strong; self disciplined; we are trying to develop a good strong character-- and what does this do? This makes our woman show respect to you brother"

"This makes our woman show respect to you, brother. A woman will respect you, brother, when you don't run after her like a dog after a bone."

‎"The Black Woman needs to be liberated all right, but she needs to be liberated from foolishness. She needs to be liberated from filth. She needs to be liberated from the image that a woman is only for pleasure And the Black man needs to be liberated from that kind of mind where all he can see in the woman is a bedroom..." You have to be liberated from that dog mind."

"This man has taught us that which has elevated us, reformed us and made us to think differently. He has taught us the thing that makes us love our woman, respect her and desire to protect her. He has taught us the right foods to eat to keep us looking young, giving us good health. And this is why I thank Allah and we ...thank Allah for The Hon. Elijah Muhammad"

Thank you for reading these quotes from my minister, leader, teacher and guide, The Hon. Louis Farrakhan. I pray that you will be encouraged to learn more about the teachings of The Most Hon. Elijah Muhammad and what they can do for you.---Brother Mustafaa Abdul Muhammad
